Law Florida - Senate passes Republican sponsored Bill to outlaw lab-grown meat. DeSantis supports ban

buying up all the farmland, ruthlessly sabotaging the energy sector, and messing with food processing plants and farmers all over europe and north america with climate policies so they can sell shit like this among many other things "for the good of the planet!" under their new utopia can go fuck themselves.

i think fake meat if done properly can be useful and shouldn't be banned, but knowing the above maybe it should....
80% of the grain and 50% of the corn grown is used to feed livestock. That could be used to feed areas that have problems feeding their population.
Also if you were so concerned with farm land you would be bitching about corporate farms putting the middle class farmer out of work.
Lab grown meat has a place, I would not eat it, but it has a place. You have to realize, things change and people push the envelope. If we did not have change, we could not be talking shit on Sherdog. There was a version of you in the 1950's is complaining about computers and some fucking globalist agenda. You cant even have a conversation without using code words to some how accentuate your point.
Someone had an idea for lab grown meat, and now a governor to get the Rubes to shake their fist and say Hell Yeah Ron, has banned it. Once again to me not very capitalistic of Ron, but then again, most conservatives use the word capitalism only when it suits their point.

The left has an obvious beef with the agriculture industry and farmers, as evidenced by their actions in multiple countries.

Voting with your dollar won’t work when they slowly erode away other options/make raising actual meat not worth the time and money.

That isn't true at all, although the extreme right want's you to believe it's true.

There are some pretty serious problems with our agriculture though, and it would be nice if people could discuss them like reasonable human beings.

If it's the same thing as meat, there are probably a lot of really good reasons to eat it.

Just the undeniable cruelty of factory farming, for starters.

Personally I have no idea if it's as good as meat but I was curious if you had an actual good reason to dismiss it.
I see no reason I'd want to consume an unnatural form of food thats not in short supply.

Regular food is cruel, ridiculously inefficient and pretty bad for the environment.

Don't get me wrong, I don't worry about that any more than you do and eat quite a bit of meat, but there are definitely really good reasons to consider alternatives if they're good.

Why not? Have you tried it?
No I have not. I would try it, but would rather has a Medium Rare steak. I also do not care if anyone wants to eat it. Like I said if it save then why not let it be sold.
This law is just more emotional legislation. I am getting tired of laws that are being passed just to keep the Rubes motivated. My home owners insurance has skyrocketed and Ron is more concerned with being an Anti Woke Warrior and hooking up donors than anything else.

DeSantis took 3.9 million from Big Insurance and then passed a law hooking them up and most Floridians Home owners insurance have doubled since he has been in office.

Regarding Florida, HOI policies have gone up so much because covid drove up the cost of building materials and storm chasing flood/wind damage reclamation have gamed the insurance system quadrupaling the amount insurance claims should be.

Many cows live great lives.

It's grown from meat.

And.... what about the long-term effects?

Typically, something that sounded great in theory is thrust upon the masses and only later we discover it wasn't a good idea because of unforseen consequences.

Remember cigarette smoking?
Remember Covid-19 vaccines & boosters?

Without taking a stance on the issue its interesting how use of words start getting twisted when politics are involved. Conceptualizing a steak grown in a lab as either fake or not fake are both perfectly valid, but anyone with a dog(or cow) in the fight will be quite insistent they got it right.

We subsidized Insurance companies with tax dollars. Some of them recently have cashed that subsidy check and then decided not to sell insurance in Florida. I would like to get a subsidy to keep prices down, cash the check and then like thanks for the money, we are not selling insurance anymore.
He made it impossible to sue insurance companies now, which was supposed to bring the price down, which it has not. Also they have made it easier for the insurance company to drop you. Then lately been multiple stories of Citizens Insurance which is tax payer backed, sending out non licensed inspectors who find something wrong with your home and then they drop your coverage.

Here is just one story, there are many many more. You can look those up yourself.

I have absolutely no idea, I've never tried it and haven't seen it available. I'm not saying everyone should rush out and be the first to try them, although I'm confident there are plenty of things you wouldn't give the same level of consideration.

And the Covid vaccines were a fucking miracle, they saved millions of lives. That technology was also decades old.

I don't really think about it, we're probably a very long way away from this being a viable market replacement.

I probably spend more on steak than I do on just about anything because it's fucking awesome.
