Television X-MEN '97 (First Official Trailer, post #292)

After working in the corporate world for a while now, I bet it was more like this:

1. One suit hires outspoken person because their beliefs align.

2. Outspoken person continues to be outspoken person.

3. The suit's boss, who cares about money, not ideology, gets wind of just how outspoken this person is, becomes afraid of the backlash, and fires the suit and the outspoken person.

This sounds like a far more likely situation.

Still not convinced.

That's what they've been saying for years now, even before it started to get really bad and accumulating a billion dollars in losses.
I believe someone in Disney, I can't recall who, said "We're not getting political." Which translates to they didn't considered having their politics reflected within their projects as 'getting political.' And later they admitted they got too political.

But the entire Disney creative infrastructure has been saturated with years of DEI hires before we were calling it DEI. There's not a question they're 'woke,' but to what extent, and if they can put that shit to the side and produce quality non-partisan entertainment.

We shall see.
Read the two references I posted, they are from late last year.

They finally got to the point where they had to openly admit, they were losing a metric fuckton of money and it was because of their customers being turned off by their SJW bullshit.

Even worse, they had to admit it in a legal filing to their shareholders. Never underestimate a bunch of rich, pissed off shareholders and how much pressure they can put on execs that want to keep their cushy, high paying jobs.

Yeah, I get that.

But activists within the creative infrastructure within Marvel don't give a damn about the profitability because they're just getting a paycheck from Disney, and a big one, but no stock options. And even if they did receive stock the first thing they'd do is sell it and transfer the funds to more worthwhile investments.

Their agenda as activists, to turn their projects within Disney into propaganda, is their highest priority.

And it sounds like Beau Demayo was such a zealot toward his propaganda he'd happily be fired, or he walked out, from his showrunner status on X-Men '97 and the big paychecks.

Hopefully this will cause Disney to second guess hiring..... oh who am I kidding?

That's the thing, it's now getting to the stage where the activists are threatening the board members and CEO's jobs. Even if they agree with them politically, they will shitcan them in a second to keep their cushy positions.

Then again, the way that Iger sold 80% of his Disney stock last year, tells us that he thinks it's going to get worse.

Perhaps.
Perhaps they're just saying what they think what the public wants to hear.

Keep in mind Kathleen Kennedy is still President of LucasFilm until she want to leave.

As for Beau Demayo, its just speculation as to why he was 'fired.' We can guess due to the bizarre timing that it was for creative leverage over future seasons, trying to threaten to quit, and they called his bluff... or it could be over bad blood over this 1st season.

We'll have a better idea after we see how well this season is received.

The industry isn't what it was a couple of years ago. Disney has since had a bunch of large, high profile flops and is absolutely hemorrhaging money.

Their CEO even admitted their activist BS is the main cause and that they'd be bowing out of the "culture wars". The crap they could get away with two years ago and what they can today are night and day.

I was thinking about these two quotes and I have a bit of a theory.

The entire season is obviously 100% complete and ready to be streamed, and the Disney Execs finally get around to watching it in its entirety... and its as woke as we fear its going to be.

The Disney Execs now know wokeness is poison to new projects, especially with pre-existing franchises that rely on nostalgia... and they see the X-Men's version of 'The Last Jedi' with this new series.

The Execs order Beau Demayo to cut out EVERYTHING objectionable to longtime fans, even fans that agree with the social messaging don't want it represented in a show that takes place in 1997.Beau Demayo refuses (because he is an activists), is fired (so he won't be showing up to promote the show), and the Execs are ordering the necessary edits to the show, including possibly entire scenes having to be re-animated and voiced.

They'd have 10 days to make the edits for the first 2 episodes, then a week for each episode thereafter.

Perhaps having to re-animate entire scenes is a bit too far, but it'd be interesting if the episodes were a minute shorter than expected, or they have major pacing issues like some parts were heavily edited.

gawdamn, firing the show creator so close to the premiere is wild.

My God. The characters are what they are. They don’t need to be re-emphasized or enhanced at all. End of story!
what?? why the heck wouldn’t they update the animation? it’s not like the original series looks like Akira or something jfc

The legendary theme song is back and sounds as great as the original.
I suspect they are gonna put that weird messed up in the head bald guy in alot of the scenes. Its not wanted or needed. Show still looks pretty good tho. Is Jean pregnant in this? She looks like it.

She's bulking.

well at least the shills liked it

i’m optimistic regardless. the animation looks great & i trust that the writers will stay true to the fundamental élan vital of the X-Men comics

"nice modern complexity" "more bite to its commentary"
<{nope}>
i don’t see anything inherently wrong w/ these two things. since these comments are vague w/o going into specifics, it seems as though you’re implying that you want this show to treat its audience like a bunch of slack-jawed dullards

I think the original's commentary had sufficient "bite" and was timeless in its message, I don't need more "modern" bite

First reactions tend to be less than reliable, as they usually come from people who are hand-picked to give good reviews.

<PlusJuan>

This.

And they're reviews of the first 3 episodes.
Why not give reviewers access to the entire season?

Makes me suspect Disney knows the season is top-heavy.

That said...

...this looks pretty awesome.
