Greater fighter, Dustin or Conor?

How many belts does Dustin have again?

How many times did McRunner end Poirier's career again?

Ask McRunner when he wakes up and sees his gifted belts and inflated, overrated record.

Conman has 1 win in the last 8 years. Argument over.

Prime vs Prime, Conor wins at 145 or 155. We watched that when they fought the first time. I would hazard a guess in saying Dustin would last another round, but I don't see him winning.

Nowadays, we've already seen the outcome, again as we watched them fight more recently.

In terms of legacy, it isn't close. Conor holds that.

Prime? Conor was out of his prime the second he left the UFC to box and has never come close to his peak other than the blink-and-you'll-miss length Cowboy fight. He has looked awful in and out of the ring since then.
Like Dustin hasn't been in a million different wars and gotten viciously KOed multiple times. They were both in their primes during the last 2 fights of their trilogy and Dustin won. It is what it is.

Prime vs Prime and accomplishment? Conor, through winning two titles and KOing Dustin when they were both young and hungry. Pre-boxing Conor beats Dustin 9.5 out of 10 times.
Overall career? Dustin by a Longshot being 2-1 and having a much deeper resume.

Conor reached greater heights (his featherweight run was very legit and his win over Aldo is the best win between the two men in question) but burned out much, much faster. Dustin has a far deeper resume, is ahead 2-1 head-to-head, and has remained active and in the top 10 for a hilariously long time, consistently delivering exciting fights.

I guess I'd say Dustin, all things considered. Depends on how you value Conor's gifted shot vs Alvarez.

Yes, you are a champion even if you never defended your belt. Didn’t this come from Matt hughes and his rivalry with GSP? he only said that becuase gsp lost to serra right after he beat hughes. There’s no reason to think like this
It predates Hughes. I first heard it in wrestling in the 90s and in reference to returning conference weight class winners. I think it comes from the idea to keep pushing oneself, to stay hungry, and to stay away from the metaphorically "resting on your laurels." This is a refence to being crowned as a champion and not putting in the effort. I think they are meant it in a similar context.

I am not saying that I am entirely convinced by it, and it wasn't my main point. Zero defenses from someone who has continued to fight (one thing if you are forced to retire) after being forced to vacate the belt, is a big deal. It matters!

It's hard to take conors reign as a title holder seriously when he never defended any belt

Dustin has beaten Conor twice...there is no more ifs or buts.
He sure ended his FW career.

ended with some nice punches on the back of the head, so you're showing he was a cheating cunt even back then....well done

I don't think the Alvarez that Conor fought was very good. That's pretty much all Conor has at LW. I don't see him ever beating prime Dustin.
Even if he was good that’s the only win he has over 145 against someone ranked highly. I don’t get all these people saying Connor is better prime vs prime. Historically he probably takes it just because holding two belts puts his name in the record books permanently but in terms of skill he’s been riding the Aldo and Alvarez fights for a long time now.

Nate was #4 and Cerrone #5 when Conor beat them.

But don't let facts get in the way of your narrative.

Conor is better at promoting himself and selling fights

Poirier is a more complete fighter

I do think Conor in his prime was better.

Also, as much as people don't like it, he was a two-division champion simultaneously, which is something very few people have done. It seems like cope to try and downplay that he beat both of the champions whichever way you want to look at it.

I just got into a HEATED dispute with a buddy whos more of a casual fan. Def not Sherdogger level MMA IQ but he knows some stuff about MMA. Big Conor fan. He said Dustin is a choker in the biggest fights and Conor will always be better so it got me thinking, who is greater?

Pro-Conor points

- 2 division champ, 3-1 in title fights including interim (Dustin 1-2)
- has the best win of the 2 in Aldo
- clearly better FW than Dustin was at FW

Pro-Dustin points

- faaaaaar deeper resume and much stronger schedule faced
- 2-1 H2H against Conor
- among common opponents (Brandao, Duffy, Max, Eddie, Khabib), Dustin is 5-1-1 while Conor is 3-2
- clearly better LW than Conor was at LW even tho Conor was champ, he did it skipping the line and finishing someone who Dustin also finished

Conor’s biggest PPV fights

1, vs Mayweather ….Loss
2. Vs Khabib…………Loss
3. vs Porier ………….Loss

Who chokes ?
