John Nash says Aldo is only returning at UFC 301 because UFC won't let him box until he finishes his contract

Makes all sorts of sense. Aldo boxed on good will before and ran into a business related wall with a Jake Paul card being forbidden. If he is smart, he ngeotiated full release of his contract with this fight without any haff-way free agency stuff. And at least UFC was apparently in enough need of Aldo's services to throw him on a proper Brazil card instead of some bullshit fight just to be petty. This concludes their business, UFC gets to squeeze the last fight out of Aldo they probably would not otherwise gotten and Aldo is a Free Man and no longer has to negotiatiate with Ari Golds' Number Two every time he wants to box.

I wouldn't be shocked if it is somewhat related to contract issues. Also wouldn't be shocked if Dana begged Aldo to help fill out a card in Brazil. Reminder Periera got offered a short turn around if he stomps Hill out fast.

I like pantoja but he's not a big name. They have to sell tickets

And even Pantoja was a lottery ticket for the UFC since he really want ed to fight there. They had fucking nothing without him. So they threw together Pantoja vs Ecreg who aboslutely wouldn't be in line for any title shot

John Nash?

If this were true, UFC would be giving him the toughest matchup possible for his last fight, not a big homecoming against a tailor made opponent.

Aldo probably just realized boxing was not for him. He boxed like he expected kicks and takedowns to come his way ffs lol. Couldn't undo all the instincts he built up over the years so quickly.

I love Jose like everybody else but he's not making big bucks boxing. He's not gonna fight one of the best 135ers (Tank, Loma, Shakur, Zepeda). And if he did he would get murked. No one is gonna pay him millions to fight Bobby Trashcan at the Motel 6 ballroom.

He's probably made more for his debut against Stephens than most for their pro debut. That draw was BS

Rumour according to his unnamed sources, @ 8:13 - https://heynottheface.substack.com/...mpaign=post&utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true

Says Aldo wanted to box on the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson card, but he needed the UFC's permission because he has one fight left on his UFC contract. UFC didn't give him permission, so he's returning to UFC 301 to finish off his contract and be free.

If true, I guess this means he's not looking to get a title shot. I figured Aldo was coming back for one payday and to fight in Rio a last time (instead of retiring in Salt Lake), but it seems it's not even that.

Thoughts?
I'm not following. Why would he come back to UFC to "finish contract and box" if he was retired and already boxed in April and July 2023?

Those were not Jake Paul cards on netflix...
I don’t think that is the case. He already secured his release. He was in talks with boxing Mayweather last year. Saying he isn’t allowed to box on Jake Paul’s card doesn’t make sense. The Tyson event is in July so to block a person from fighting so you let him fight two months earlier?

This scenario in Brazil is more like they needed star power and decided to throw him extra money.

They do it a case by case basis, for whatever reason Dana doesn't want him to fight in the Jake Paul card, they letting him fight two months before at 301 has nothing to do with it, is not about timing is about the event itself, maybe they see netflix as a competitor for espn+ or Dana just fucking hate Jake who knows but this has been reported by several journalist sincr the fight was announced, I doubt that story came out of nowhere.

If this is true, I guess you shouldn't bet on Aldo

I mean... watching him fight in a Motel 6 ballroom would be pretty nostalgic

Think about it. If it is a case by case basis. They want to block him from competing in Jake Paul’s event. Why let him finish out his contract so he is eligible for the event?

Because they have to offer him a fight or the contract is null.
