IGN says that Resident Evil 5 is too racist to remake, and should be re-written.

It could have been done with deference to the culture and history of West Africa. But it wasn't. It leaned into stereotypes of Africans being primitives and savages. Many of you really think that Africans are primitives and savages so you won't be able to see the issue anyway.

I meaaan there are some places that have tribal people. But mostly no. Honestly it seems kind of like if you set the game in modern France and had some guys running dressed up as knights.

But I don’t know the story of the game. Maybe it’s fine. I don’t really care much and I’m not personally offended anyways

I played the game. There was one area that was like that when you are in the outer swamp area. The other areas in towns just had Africans dressed in normal clothes.

No, it wasn't. It was one of the few games that allowed anything like a decent co-op, but I would believe it isn't as fun as you remember it being. It was a poorly done game that tried to do too much after the success of 4.

This was my thought when it first launched. It's not like they set it in NYC and only those of African Descent can be infected and must be killed. No one balked when it was in Spain and EVERYONE killed was Spanish, except for the one white guy. But when they go to Africa, which is made up of Africans, and then there are a lot of Africans... it's racist?

I played it like 3 times back to back with my cousin.

I had so much fun I bought it on my own, did one solo playthrough, never touched it again.
 
Everything is racist I guess. It takes away from real racism.

How are we supposed to portray the raping of Africa by big businesses without portraying the majority that live there?

It’s meant for co op. Beyond that its cheeks…

I thought it was okay. Verging on good if you aren't expecting a Resident Evil game. It is way more action than survival horror, which I think is what most people have a problem with. But I still liked it. If you have a 360 kicking around you can get it for like $5
