Look, Rose gets away from Pat into the right situation and she could probably have a small resurgence in the twilight of her career. Would it matter much at this point? A lot of female MMA fighters have a key male in the background pulling the strings. It's a different dynamic.

Nobody was expecting Zhang to get ko'd.

The thing is, knowing she is capable of KOing Weili and prime Joana, for me at least, makes her "show up and coast" performances that much more frustrating.

Her skill level and peak abilities are so high and yet she can hand the belt to Esparza and say she did great with a straight face.

She has 2 wins over the current 115 champ and no interest in reclaiming that title.

One bad fight against Carla two years ago and they shit all over Rose despite the many exciting performances she has given us.

People are acting like she is washed while she is still clearly in her prime and just won dominantly against a respectable ranked opponent

She was competitive against a much larger title contender in her last fight despite suffering a freak injury in round 1

Ribas has been dropped and sparked out by way worse strikers than Rose, but Rose couldn't even hit her hard enough to deter her at all, and it's not like Ribas really has any striking defense.

She played it safe. It's fine because she's getting her footing back after those losses. She's always been a weird fighter that performs as good as her latest mental space. Still has interested me more than most WMMA fighters. She can look so off some nights. Never bet on her.

I think she needed a win to regain confidence and played it safe.

She looked bigger and slower.

Her scrambles were great though. People assume that Ribas is smaller than she actually is. First, Amanda isn't 5'3". Her height is listed incorrectly. She's at least 5'5". Second, she fights at 115, but cuts a lot of weight to make 125, let alone 115. Ribas was 143lbs against Rodriguez. Fiorot, who's a huge flyweight, was 139lbs against Rose. With Santos out of the UFC, Ribas is probably the heaviest fighter in the top 10 at 125.

She's also a Judo and BJJ black belt. The fact that Rose was able to control her on the ground makes the second Esparza loss even more absurd. I'm fairly positive Rose would have outgrappled Carla I she had actually tried to fight.

Rose is still young (31), not washed as some people are saying, but she won't win a second belt training in her garage with Pat. She needs to leave him at home and get a real coach and team behind her. Now that she's back in the win column, she also needs to start taking more risks.
