Social What's The Purpose of Vehicle Registration?

Basically to pay for service and upkeep of public roads that you choose to use.

Got pulled over today and it turns out I never renewed my plates last year. One of those things where you set the notice down and deal with it at a later day and eventually forget it. I've had expired plates for 9 months without issue but today my luck ran out. So I ask, what's the purpose of this arbitrary expensive sticker? This one interaction has made me believe we live in a fascist police state.
Pretty sure you will love it to get into an accident with an unregistered car that flees the scene. In my country this also comes with car insurance and by that the victims of a car crash are always insured which can be very substantial sums of money in damage and health costs

All this anarcho talk flies out of the window if you actually go to countries that operate like that.
he's not completely wrong, at some point, we're overinsured.

car insurance should NOT pay medical bills, we're already mandated to pay for health insurance, so the fact that we cant escape from that portion of insurance, there is essentially double insurance.

there is more...
II is not only about health costs. BEing victim to car accidents you get far more money in terms of rebuilding your house if you are handicapped, get annother car simply everyting you need. Try that with standard medical insurance. Forget it. THere is a HUGE difference in how you are cared for.

I never said we shouldn't have it at all, learn to read. How is your brain functioning properly when you can't understand the issue of endlessly paying in when nothing happens?

If I never get it into an accident, but pay in for years, shouldn't I recoup some of my investment? The fact that your friend Sara completely sucks at driving and shouldn't be in the road at all, isn't everyone else's fault who can actually drive without issue.

I wrote in my initial post that I understand the need for some sort of designated stash, dumbass. Read it again without frothing at the mouth. But paying in endlessly, when you create no issues, is retarded, and the fact that you support it is pathetic. Guess you like essentially getting extorted.
"Investment..."

You are too stupid for words. Go sit in the corner and play with your crayons while the adults are conversing.

"Car insurance can be seen as an investment because it provides financial protection and security for drivers and their vehicles. By paying a premium, drivers can transfer the financial risk of potential accidents or incidents to the insurance company. In this sense, car insurance can be seen as a form of risk management, similar to investing in other forms of insurance, such as health or life insurance."

Explain the need for a yearly $155 registration fee
You know the places you go to get your license, renew your license, transfer ownership of a car, register your car and a bunch of other functions?

It costs money to maintain those shopfronts and for some unknown reason, the staff insist on being paid. This money has to come from somewhere.

It is risk management, they are trying to simplify the concept of insurance for imbeciles.

Anyone who thinks they should receive any part of that "investment" back has a sub 80 IQ.

Vehicle registration isn't merely about road safety... it's a cog in the surveillance machine, tracking our movements for the shadowy elites. But fear not, for we'll break free and reclaim our liberty on the open road, one truth at a time!

Uh... anyway, I've got to get back to doing everyday stuff because that's who I am, just your regular guy, definitely not Alex Jones.

The word is fine to be used, and you're just going to have to deal with the fact that you didn't know that, an acted superior because of it Lmao.

ITT multiple posters proved they don’t have a fucking clue how insurance works or what it’s even for.
Imagine walking through life, not having even the slightest concept of how the world works around you. You can guarantee, with people like this, it's not just the concepts of insurance or vehicle registration...

I am not "acting" anything. Anyone who reads through this thread and posses even moderate levels of intelligence, knows which of the two of us is the completely clueless imbecile.

Someone is extremely upset that their insult backfired, against someone that they consider an imbecile.

The word is fine to be used. Remember that in the future, if you don't want to look stupid while feigning intellectual superiority.

What on earth makes you believe that I am "extremely upset"? I think you may be projecting there buddy.

No, it's an exceptionally stupid way to describe insurance but as stated, your copy and pasted content was clearly attempting to describe the concept for stupid people.

You tried to insult me due to semantics, when the word was fine to be used. It's ok, just don't do it again, my son.

Congratulations, you can respond while completely ignoring the content of my post

You're like the mentally retarded kid, stomping around the room yelling "I am teh winnar" while everyone else is rolling their eyes.

What about the insane income and state taxes we already pay, on top of sales and property taxes
