Media Sean Offered "Less Than 200k/200k" Declined Paulo Costa - UPDATE: Sean's Pay RESOLVED, Accepts Paulo Costa

Didn’t he sign a contract with that salary? And potentially almost half a million for 15min isn’t that bad, is it…

Champs are all PPV partners. I don't know that any of them make under $1 million for a single fight, let alone for 82 of them in 7 months with mandatory team practices and constant travel like NHL has.

DJ never made close to a mil, despite being the arguable GOAT of the sport. Also lol at comparing a fight to a hockey game.

Costa doesn't deserve Strickland. His last top ten win was 6 years ago, he should fight an unranked opponent or boderline top 15 like Borralho, Aliskerov or Michel Pereira, imo.

The issue is that Whittaker is fighting Khamzat. Strickland fought and lost to Cannonier not too long ago. Lost to DDP and isn't getting that rematch, Izzy is fighting DDP so there's no top 5 guy left. Costa's stock also went up in his close loss to Whittaker.

Costa was way more competitive with Whittaker than Cannonier was. Costa is probably the highest ranked guy available unless he fights Cannonier again, Vettori or Allen but the Costa fight is the most exciting match up.
"Costa's stock also went up in his close loss to Whittaker."

Close? Dude, what fight were you watching? Aside form one shot at the end of the first, Rob was clearly in charge of the entire rest of the three rounds and handily outstruck him.

Easy 30-27.

So he's saying his base contract is shit and not worth it to fight Costa on 7 weeks notice
1) GSP, Jon Jones, and Islam routinely have at least 10 weeks to prepare in general and Jon wouldn’t switch from training for Hendo to Chael on short notice.

2) In Boxing we still have the rest of April, all of May & June, for Jake Paul v Tyson (July 20) … Diaz vs Mas was announced March 13 and will happen June 1st. Both should have well over 10 weeks.

3) Haney v Garcia war of words was Feb 9th, 10 weeks & a day before their fight. https://x.com/grittywuzhere/status/1756144945721688484?s=46&t=Y7tRZiH7iEsf8z8n7FTzjg

I am impressed how Costa that fought 4 times in the last 4 years, has three defeats and the only win was against a washed Rockhold that still gave him a lot of trouble talks smack and asks for fights against a recent champion.

The fight would look like the recent Whittaker-Costa fight. I mean Costa can't even beat an ancient Rockhold that convincingly in Luke's retirement fight. Sean outworks him and lands more shots for a clear UD. Costa has nothing but a very small puncher's chance.
You are clueless about MMA, buddeh. Garbage take.

Strickland expecting a preferential, renegotiated contract to fight someone who has 1 win in the 202x's is an absolute shitbag move. He should just retire as DDP absolutely wrecked his brain and it's clear from absolutely everything he has presented in the media since that he doesn't want to fight in the ufc anymore

Dana has body envy. Loves the guy.

Wow, pretty weak offer Dana and Co...Way to take care of your biggest draws! SMH.

Whats going to happen is Dana will now freeze Sean. Put him in the fridge. Let him chill for a while. Then when the money starts running out and the mortgage, car payments, motorcycle payments, holiday/ski trip expenses, girlfriend payments start adding up, Sean will come back to the table.

The UFC will then give him a payrise after hard negotiations, but lock him into another 5-7 fights for the remainder of his career.

The UFC wins again.
Remember when he didn't ahve any of those expenses and drove around in a shit car and lived basically in a big room? Getting popular will come across as expensive if you get carried away!

Easy 30-27.
You can't pretend things didn't happen. It wasn't 30-27. It was 29-28 and the only one close to being finished was Whittaker. There's no need to do any mental gymnastics.

Most people who watched that fight and aren't doing any mental gymnastics to pretend things that happened didn't happen rate Whittaker and Costa as better than they did prior to that fight.

Whittaker showed that he's still a championship level fighter and Costa showed he's not far behind that.

Just give Sean 500k and make the fight with Costco happen!
