Islam lost the plot and resulted to strawman arguments. Max's argument wasn't about activity levels -- it was about the fact that islam was critiquing the BMF fight as pointless and saying he had nobody to fight because of the bmf fight. That is funny because islam is the reason that fight was made in the first place due to the fact that islam, for whatever reason, wouldn't fight gaethje in February (according to max and gaethje). Max asked why that is, and instead of answering, islam misinterpreted the criticism and argued against a different criticism.

It's absolutely meaningful if Max wins, lightweight will have a brand new contender and a popular one. Y'all were excited the first time he tried 155, don't know why you're so sour about it now. No one thinks Gaethje will beat Islam anyway.

Islam has the worst responses continuously. Dude is totally unaware he has 0 LW title defenses against any ranked LW. Dude got handed a win over a guy who didnt even train for a fight. And can't even comprehend that reality, or act in a way that recognizes it. Just pretends he's absolute GOAT because of his affiliation with Khabib. Guess what? ALL fighters have wins leading up to the title. Only the greatest champions defend that belt, multiple times, against fighters in their own weight class, who have trained and have wins in their divisions. So tired of these dagestanis.

It's going to be pretty embarrassing if he defends against Poirier and ties the LW defence record without ever having fought the #1 contender.

Or the Poirier / Gaethje fight for the BMF belt. A belt is getting wrapped around a guy who is clearly not the best in their division, a little criticism isn't unreasonable lol.

his criticism should be directed at the UFC executives, not fighters who simply want PPV points and money. this guy from the hills eating who knows what, can't fathom another fighter wanting money? islam is a moron, and acts like he's the LW gift to the world, despite doing nothing that previous LW champions have actually done. his criticism is misdirected entirely. but for someone who can't even acknowledge volk didn't train, i expect nothing less from his type.

Whatever Dana and the UFC wants to be honest lol. If both win in impressive fashion idk. With a win over Tsarukyan Oliveira will have wins over everybody in the top 7 besides Gamrot... Tsarukyan was green when he fought Islam and still did fairly well also so that is also a factor. If Gaethje wins well... He beat a featherweight. Yes one of the best featherweights ever but Max's only fight at 155 so far was a loss to Poirier. Very competitive loss but still a loss.

For me it should be the winner of Oliviera vs Tsarukyan but I could see the winner of Gaethje vs Max getting it. Also if Conor actually does ever fight Chandler and he wins, guaranteed they'd give him a ts if he wanted so....

1 argument that could be made is that Tsarukyan and Oliveira would both be rematches. Also I could see Dana shitting all over Oliveira and using Oliveira's comments about preferring to fight Conor against him.

Cause he hasn't been inactive. You wish he was though. He fought 3 times since UFC 280 all within 12 months. Competed twice last year the average for champs. If he only fights once this year yeah then go ahead call him inactive.

You're still doing it. You're including his championship winning fight against Oliveira to argue he's an active champ when he wasn't champion for that fight. He's only had 2 fights since he's been champion, not 3.

He fought 2x since winning the belt against a FW. Okay, fine whatever not ideal but a fight's a fight and he had 2 of them. So where's his fight now? That opponent's already gone and fought since like the active champ he was.

You don't get to sit here and say "Look at how active I used to be" without people rightfully saying "Well then why aren't you maintaining that?". You set that standard then people noticed you oddly broke it here.

Fact is everybody knows what Islam's trying to do and it's either get another undeserving opponent (Poirier), a contender on short notice after their own hard fight (Charles/Arman or Justin/Holloway), or just sit back and wait till Abu Dhabi in the fall. FFS Justin just said he knows all this and is ready to non-ideally fight Islam in June on short notice rather than fight him in Abu Dhabi as he knows it's not fair there.

We all know what Islam's only trying to fight when he gets all the advantages. That's why everybody's calling bullshit on him.

Im not sour about it and the ONLY way that this fight is meaningful is if Max wins AND stays at 155.

If Gaethje wins, well, he was next in line after Arman/Charles for a TS anyway.

If Max wins and DOESNT stay, then what was it for

Max was recently talking about how the Topuria fight is 100% going to happen, so I dont think he is staying. Who knows tho.
