A weird thing about the Jiri fight

he reminded me of several of prime chuck liddell's attributes, mainly his ability to take solid damage to the dome, and his persistent will to find a way to win. he looked terrible that first round and managed to survive on his own self belief until victory was achieved. on paper, he should've been TKO/KO'd eventually. legs absolutely shot, but man he's got some real determination in there. his style won't last long, he relies on his ability to take a punch too much. however, it is fun to watch, feels honorable, and i enjoy seeing this real life european woods guy, doing the nen, ren, zen in the woods, hand signals outside the arena 3 AM, just stuff you would expect to see from an obscure manga. MMA is a better place with a prime Jiri. watching those two last night, I felt like it was the LHW division of old again, an exciting division, full of tough fighters, that are trying to put each other out, while never backing down. exciting fight, hope he continues and can somehow, against all odds, reclaim the throne.

Jiri smells blood and goes for it, he does not really think in a MMA style....Jiri, is a better street fighter while Rakic is a better MMA fighter...Jiri looked hanging on in first round...but second round, once Rakic turned his back, Jiri rushed and flowed on him and won. This does not work on people like Alex, but, others...its possible....I rarely type here and you are lucky to hear my response...."I have spoken"

this 100%. Jiri is not tied down to modern MMA conventional techniques/standards/strategies. Less of a MMA fighter, more of a character. He would have fit right in with the first MMA eras. More Street Fighter 2 than Greg Jackson.

Do not think so, it was more physical - Jiri is tougher. Rakic was outpowered, mostly that. He could not hurt Jiri with hands even with pretty clean shots, and could not take Jiri shots. his had snpped back whenever Jiri connected.

really was the only fight i was pulling hard for someone. that first round worried me - only because of the cumulative damage of the leg kicks. but jiri was having none of it. guy is possessed and an absolute pleasure to watch.
