She was a cutie on the British version of Skins, at least in S1 the only season I watched, but she is the rare 'would not' on GoT

@BluntTrauma21

You looking to bet the Florida Derby this Saturday at all? Win bets only? If so what kinds of odds are you being offered up on the two favourites?

For sure, always up for some action on the ponies. I usually just stick to win bets but if you like something else I can always switch it up. I'm getting 1/1 on Mohaymen and 6/5 on Nyquist atm.

Meh. If you can maybe get Nyquist a little higher than that he might be worth a shot. Say in the 8/5 or 9/5 range. Otherwise I'd pass on those two at the odds they'd be at even though there's probably a 95% chance that one of the two win it.

If you're looking beyond win bets the #7 Takeittotheedge is quite intriguing and may be worth putting a few bucks down in a place/show bet. Or he can be used underneath the two logical choices in an exacta if you want. He's about the only one with a real shot to beat both of the big two as well and makes up that other 5%. Maybe worth a shot in the win position at somewhere north of 20/1? Maybe. He's only had one race in his lifetime, so this is a tall task for him. But that one race was a good one. He received an 88 Beyer, 95 Brisnet, and 108 Equibase, which are all extremely impressive for a debut. In fact his 108 Equibase was higher than the 107 Nyquist got in his last race over the same distance. In his one race he showed early speed by going straight to the front and if he does the same this Saturday that could bold well for him since Gulfstream is historically a speed favouring track (his trainer, Dale Romans, is on record saying that's the plan...straight to the front). His breeding shouldn't be an issue at the distance either provided there's not a really hot pace out front. What he lacks in experience he may make up for in talent, and with the running style he has he may be set to run a really good race this weekend. Good enough to win? Hmm, maybe not. But if one of the two favourites falter or has a troubled trip, this guy may be the one to take advantage of it.

Here's his debut;

Love it, thank you buddy. Will definitely look at him, currently sitting 20/1 exactly so will keep an eye to see if he gets any higher. Will take your advice and bet him to show or place as well. Gonna keep an eye on Nyquist's line too if he gets up to that range I'll hit him up as well.

I'm leaning towards Nyquist being the most likely winner myself, but I'd need a little bit of value in the odds to make it worthwhile to bet him. I think he's the more battle tested between him and Mohaymen, and he also has the better running style for a big race day at Gulfstream Park. He drew better than Mohaymen as well with him getting the #4 hole while Mohaymen's #9 post could mean that he gets drifted outside on the turns. Nyquist also has more to race for this weekend with him being eligible for a $1 million bonus should he win. His three consecutive 5F works tells me he's completely in this race to win it. Takeittotheedge being entered also gives Nyquist a target to shoot for and he runs his best under those situations.

Mohaymen also comes from a precocious family on the dam side, which might be a concern with him. Meaning that they often have early success as two year-olds but then kind of flatline as three year-olds and older. I remember looking over his pedigree and then mentioning this to my wife over the winter before Mohaymen made his 2016 debut. So far this year his Beyer numbers say that he hasn't improved at all since his two-year-old campaign. His Beyer last fall in winning the Remsen was a 95. His two races so far in 2016 have also both been 95. Another 95 is very likely not going to win the race this Saturday. We'll see if he can improve on that though.

Hot pie is an option?! Seriously??? Who the hell would even bet on him to rule Westeros LOL fwiw I have a pretty decent idea as to what's gonna happen but I'd rather keep my mouth shut to not spoil anything. Let's just say it's not worth keeping your money tied up for so long w the way GRRM is writing his books
