Bellator 155 - Carvalho vs Manhoef

Holy shit. I just watched the fight, had 5 fucking units on Carvalho and I feel so god damn lucky right now. I counted like 1 straight left from Carvalho the entire fight? He seemed a bit scared tbh. Also surprised that he gassed to badly in a fight with so much inactivity. And Big John... I just cant stand this guy, always want to be in the center of attention. Still happy he didn't remove a point. Honestly, the first knee didn't seem to hit the cup, he kinda saved Manhoef there.

How did you guys score the fight? This is how i had it with my 5u betting bias:

rd1: Draw
rd2: Carvalho
rd3: Carvalho
rd4: Carvalho
rd5: Manhoef

Carvalho was as square as it gets, i only bet him because Melvin has been fighting for over 20 fucking years and was talking about retiring, i thought the line was gonna be like -500.

Feel sorry for Melvin because that would have been a great ending to a hit and miss career, really doubt they will give him a rematch because that fight sucked.

I really wouldnt read much on Carvalho's pathetic performance, this was just a bad style match up for him because he couldnt be aggresive at all. If he fights someone like Kendall Grove he should do much better.

I actually scored that 2nd round 10-8 for Carvalho but I can see where you're coming from.

Definitely dodged a bullet there. Ended up making a good amount last night because of it and I guess I can't complain really about that Anderson/Shogun decision anymore. But man does a decision like this ever crush my confidence in the judges when placing large bets.

Damn 10-8? With that much inactivity? I dunno, it has to be a near finish or atleast a dominating round for me to score a 10-8.

Im still pissed about Anderson/Shogun tho :D

i got my ass ripped last night. luckily hit carvalho/curran double or i woulda been down over 1k.

sticking to ufc.

Ouch, happens...

I'm the opposite lately. Been doing great on non ufc, and lost like 15u on the last two UFCs !

Long term, tho.. don't write Bellator off, might miss some good opportunities

Just watched this event. No action for me as I'm still familiarizing myself with the Bellator roster.

Let's start on a positive note.

1. As a grappler who specializes in triangles, I must say that Dufresne's triangle was a thing of beauty. Everything from the setup to the use of reverse triangle to get the arm across,, to her posture control and her hand walking was just gorgeous.

2. I have been watching the sport for over a decade and the Sasaki and Carvalho decisions are among the worst I've seen in a major MMA event. They are on par with Phan-Garcia and Sanchez-Pearson. I thought Manhoef looked really good in this fight and it's pretty inspirational to see a 40-year-old continue to improve and compete at a high level. I feel bad for the guy.

I strongly disagree. The Carvalho decision was not even close compared to those two. I cant see a strong case for Manhoef in r2, 3 or 4. Could you have scored them for him? Sure, but in no way was it a robbery.

The feel when you bet ~20u on a huge favorite because they can't lose this one... can they?

Wow, didn't know Coenen didn't shake her hand.

Dufresne not knowing who Coenen was & missing weight by 5 lbs are both retarded, but still

I can't understand how anyone could score any of those rounds for Carvalho, except maybe the first. I'm not saying it was a domination, but I thought 4/5 rounds were clear as day.

I really thought 3 or 4 of the rounds were Coinflips. Carvalho body language made me think he would lose the decision but the actual strikes landed, takedowns, cage control .. all in his favor for stretches of the fight

People are giving him such a hard time for this fight.. and a lot of it is justified... but Melvin taking NO heat for his part in it. And that is kinda messed up. He was inactive as hell, too

Not watched but from reading above completely agree about BJM. Someone surely will tell him to fuck off one day. Goddard is nearing how annoying BJM is too.

I haven't rewatched, but I think I gave Carvalho the 1st and 4th. I was on him and lets just say I counted that as a loss lol.

Several rounds were inactive and hard to score. I think announcer swayed us heavily to MM

I keep trying to tell "action junkies" to consider avoiding Bellator betting. I've been burned many times and the straw that broke the camels back was the Mo/Rampage robbery. These robberies are frequent in Bellator and its just not worth it. Manhoef just the latest example. Guys, STOP betting Bellator, I've sworn off that org and been solely focusing on UFC. My MMA bankroll is better because of it.

Why are they more frequent in Bellator? Is it because of the jurisdictions where the fights are held, or is it because Bellator management is influencing judges?
