UFN 89 III - PBP/discussion/etc

Worst event ever for me. My biggest bets lost, I missed out on a few hail mary parlays by a tiny bit. So upset for deciding not to do a R3 RR that would have done pretty damn good

Congrats to those that did good

chin up, you've been doing great. sorry for the losses :(

sleep it off, anyone who lost.. i feel like i lost, too, don't even wanna think about it, it's done

My first losing card. Haha it hurts but can't win them all. Congrats to everyone who did well!

Yep, probably Maia/Condit I guess.

Not sure if most of you guys remember Dean Lister or not. Still on the grappling circuit, had some MMA fights too. Won ADCC absolute at one point (was a weaker field than normal but still). Josh Barnett actually subbed him at Metamorphis recently though. Was surprising.despite the size advantage Josh had. Dean was a legit top tier grappler.

Anyway, point is his nickname was "The Boogeyman" because when he first started MMA apparently nobody wanted to fight him. They knew his grappling pedigree or whatever and allegedly guys were ducking him left and right.

Maia is the current Boogeyman of the WW division. Nobody in the top 10 wants to deal with his style. Condit will take the fight I'd imagine, and it is gonna be a HUGE deal whether it's a ME or not. In a 5 rounder I'd like Condit's chances. In a 3 rounder I'm pretty sure it would look like...almost all of Maia's recent fights.

1. condit isn't fighting until sometime in 2017, he has real life stuff keeping him occupied until then, he's said he'd be willing to jump in short notice if anyone gets injured in the woodley/lawler matchup, but outside of that he's only intrested in a lawler rematch or a diaz rematch (when he does have time to do a full camp)

2. i wouldn't call two years ago ''recently'' and barnett subbing lister wasn't that much of a surprise at all considering the state of a listers body is by no means a well kept secret in the grappling community, he has had severe back and neck issues for years now.

Would pick WB to beat Condit I think, but his attacks are just as diverse as WB, the volume could make it much harder for WB to consistently find comfortable attacks, and you know he won't give an inch and will be aggressive all fight

Wonder boy would destroy commit.

Ha manages range way too good for conduits herky jerky oops let me triangle you cuz we fell down style.

Ps drunk :p

How do you come to that conclusion?

He was tentative as fuck. As me and Mkess pointed out countless times Rory is not an aggressive in your face fighter its not his style. Aggression was clearly the gameplan but if thats not how you fight its very hard to adopt a strategy that is foreign to you. Its like asking Wanderlei to counter strike. I also questioned Rory's pyschological mindset heading into this fight after the Lawler beating. You would have to be a complete psycho to not be concerned about your nose after having it shattered, and i think we clearly saw Rory even more tentative than usual especially after he got popped on it a couple of times.

Rory did draw WB into a few exchanges where WB stood right in front of Rory and this was where Rory had his most success. But Rory couldnt sustain it because it is not his style and because i believe he was having flashbacka to the Lawler fight and was really worried about his nose especially after it broke again. The fight panned out exactly how i predicted albeit i did think WB would get the stoppage.

Also i do not agree with Brown beating WB at all. WB would haved knocked him out if he didnt gas. That wont happen again. Biggest threat to WB is Maia. He chews Woodley or Lawler up IMO.

Think I ended up about 30u, pleased as not great last two events

Ryu why dont you bet smaller and build your br slowly? From seeing your unit size wins and losses it seems like you go all in!

"I don't know what to do with my nose. I broke it a couple of times in training after the Lawler fight. I really have no idea what to do. I gave it time but it kept breaking. I don't know if surgery is the best road. I need to take time to atleast look into surgery because taking time off didn't do shit"

Sounds like it his nose was just giving him issues, can't blame a tentative rory I read somewhere earlier how Rorys nose literally broke to the point he was gagging on his own blood, he sounds like he needs to take a good amount of time off to heal and the right surgery.

Were you disappointed with this fight, Ob ?

It boils my wee wee when mma media tweet out a nonsense hot take & it snowballs onto forums.

I didnt bet the fight. Looked forward to it for ages & wanted to watch as a fan. I was bitterly disappointed with it.

Yes, the fight didn't whack me off at all. My favorite fights for the weekend were Cerrone/Cote, Soto/Beal, Salter/Halsey, and High/Ricci. Since it's staying light out for so late now, I'm not watching a lot of fights live anymore. I actually find myself fast forwarding some fights when you can tell how slow they are. I watched Rory/Thompson live, but I probably would have fast forwarded.

really bad night for me, i guess that winning streak had to come to an end some day.

Bank roll management is a must imo but yeah easier said then done! This is why I withdraw part of my winnings once a month or every other month, can't trust myself from going full yolo or just losing 25-50% bank roll at times !

Bookies hate this I know and will cap your ass since they don't like it when you treat them like a salary bank.

Sham and many others are the exception, big bank rolls and this allows them to make much bigger returns, but I guess that can go both ways as in big losses when it does not work, this is why its good to hedge or live bet @ + odds especially when the time is right to reduce losses or end up in the +, course lots of ways to do it take rebels awesome parlay plays I personally love this, maybe you can lose few hundred here and there, but if one hits you end up with 12K and imo that is crazy since that is the average yearly salary after tax for most folk with an basic job in uk !

What ever your comfortable with and which ever way it works really.

For recreational gamblers, I think a lot of people look at a bankroll the wrong way. If you define your bankroll as something like $2500 and your normal play or unit size is $25, there is no reason your account should have $2500 in it IMO. Most aren't disciplined enough to not tap into it and chase. I'm like Ukram - constant payouts. I don't think I've ever kept more than $300 in my account.

Didn't know Condit said that. One less guy out there for Maia. Not sure what the hell they do with him then. Like someone said I guess maybe winner or Hendricks/Gastelum and then the title shot if he wins?

And yeah guess it was almost two years ago now that match happened. I didn't know Lister's body was falling apart on him, it's been awhile since I followed grappling very closely at all. That's just the last I remember hearing about him so seemed more recent to me.

I know i sound like a fucking know it all but i kept saying rory will be tentative cos of his nose. Really surprised he hasnt had surgery on it tho. Look at the guy Ponz beat before mcgee. plates in his jaw broken nose ponz first fight back and as soon as ponz hit him he went into a shell worrying about his jaw and nose. That is huge psychologically first fight back for fighters.

Anytime buddy.

Won on OAM and Markos. Wish I had bet Ali baga like i wanted to. Good weekend for me with ufc + euros

I have a Sunday curse where I lose everything that I've won so I'm staying away from the euro games today

You'd think after a year of dedicating most of my time to this game of fight gambling i'd be smarter. Still beating myself up for the decision to play Jotko dec over his moneyline. I would have broke even for the night if I did so.

Other than that if just a few of those damned third round finishes went to decision this would've been a really solid night. Smh on to the next

i still think we were right on letourneau, based on the tape available. x factor was that calderwood looked much better with tristar tactics and at 125.
