UFC 208 - Holm vs De Randamie - Brooklyn

According to Wikipedia,

Holly Holm's boxing record:
33-2-3 (9 KO's and 24 decisions)

Germaine de Randamie's kickboxing record:
37-0-0 (14 KO's and 23 decisions)

Both these ladies in their respective sports won more decisions than KO's. How do you see this one going in a 5 round MMA fight?

I'm surprised at McCall's odds here. I'd be surprised if a 115 lbs kid from Warsaw making his UFC debut is going to overcome McCall's experience here.

Whoa, had not seen that.....short notice as well right?

I just think McCall is a risky bet we have no idea what kind of condition he is. His body is falling apart.

I mean, he is fighting a short notice, 115lb debutant at 125. I think that even if he is held together with duct tape at present, that price warrants a play.

So far I have:
Glover 1.7u for 1u
Poirier/Jacare/Reis 1.2u for 1u

i think the smart play is pass maybe livebet or you bet McCall now and pray his body is in working condition :) after reading this (and him having 3-4 straight camps becourse of canceled fights) there is no way i could back McCall

May 1, 2016

The 31-year-old fighter has been out of commission since a January 2015 defeat against John Lineker at UFC 183, nursing a variety of injuries and attempting to get back to full strength. Speaking with Ariel Helwani on Monday's episode of The MMA Hour, McCall detailed his bumps and bruises, eventually conceding that, like it or not, fighting might not be in his future.

"Just to put it in perspective, I have two bulging discs in my neck and then I have the four-part surgery on my shoulder, I fractured and dislocated my elbow, I got three surgeries, two breaks (in my hand), and I’ve had an infection in this arm," McCall told Helwani. "So my arm doesn’t work so well. Like, right now, my hand’s kind of numb.

"I just have to be realistic. My body isn’t working very well. I do still train. I train every day, I teach every day. I still beat up on everybody. I just have to take it slow. I don’t know if my body can handle another training camp, because I train hard. Like everybody else, I train really hard. I also train very smart, but I just have a tendency to break. I’ve made peace with it – that I might never fight again – (but) do I want to fight? Of course. I want to fight. I would like nothing more than to fight, but I have to be realistic about it."

some random info and quotes from Jarred Brooks. we may have a new Conor McGregor in the house lol the kid dont lack confidence thats for sure :D

"Brooks was a highly recruited wrestler and ranked #1 in the country coming out of high school in the 113-pound weight class. He closed his senior season 35-0 and as state wrestling champion in Indiana."

"He is a natural 115lb fighter and due to a lack of opportunities in the United States for 115lb males he has had to fight above his weight class and still continues to win. Hopefully we will be able to find him some top competition in the international market. Ito having just fought for a title in Shooto at 115lb will be a great test for him."

"I’ve manifested this since I was a young boy. When I was f—ing 5 years old I was sitting acting like Tito Ortiz, bleaching my hair and winning wrestling tournaments and slamming kids on their f—ing domes."

"I see Ian as only an opponent, and he’s in my way of my dreams,” Brooks said. “I know he’s a mental head case, so I’mma get in his head as much as possible. I don’t think he’s ready for somebody that’s as fast and as strong as me, and he’s gonna overlook me. So, we’ll see how that goes with him."

"I’m a f—ing monk, man,” Brooks said. “I’m in my s—, nobody gets in my head. I know what I’m gonna do! I’m not happy that I’m in the UFC. Everybody’s dream is to be in the UFC, that ain’t my dream, pals. My dream is to be the UFC champion by the end of 2018, and I think it’s gonna happen, and I’ve manifested this, man. I’ve manifested this since I was a young boy. I’m here in the UFC to prove a point!"

"I don’t give a f— if my left hand is chopped off, I’m fighting,” Brooks said. “I’m fighting in the UFC. I’m gonna go in there and give it my all. You’re telling me that you’re gonna not fight because you had food poisoning? That s— wasn’t legit. He wanted his little base pay so he could go do his little cryogenic center s—. He doesn’t want to be in this sport anymore. He wanted to fight Neil Seery or someone in the top 5 because he knew that those were either fights that he could win and mentally be there, because he’s a mental mindf—! Neil Seery, he’s about to retire, so he’s like, ok, this guy already wants to be out. But, the last thing that he wants to deal with is a UFC newcomer like me. You can overlook me all you want, but when you feel me…Seeing me and feeling me are two different things. When you feel me, you’re gonna f—ing realize who you’re f—ing with. I’m a god in the octagon."

"I’m actually pretty humble when it comes down to fight,” Brooks said. “I know what I’m doing with this fight. He’s a mental mindf—. Anything to get into this dude’s head, I’m gonna do. When I get in front of him, he’s gonna f—ing hate me to death, and I don’t care if this listens to this f—ing s—. He knows I’m gonna get in his head, and that’s the point…When you break down a building, you wanna break it down from the floor up. So, I’m gonna hit him in the head, mentally any physically."

Brooks feels like he has the advantage on the feet and on the mat in this matchup. If Ian McCall plans on taking the fight to the ground, that is a strategy Brooks welcomes with open arms.

“Motherf—-, I’ve been doing jiu-jitsu since I was like 6 years old,” Brooks said.

“This motherf—– ain’t f—ing with me in wrestling. He couldn’t even take down John Lineker. Nothing against John, I love John, but that dude has noooo f—ing wrestling. He has hands, I mean he’ll throw down, but at the same time, if you can’t take down John Lineker, there’s a problem. And, if you think that you’re taking me down, then you must be f—ing senile.”

"Of course people are going to look at me and (be) like, ‘Who the fook is this guy’…Conor McGregor style,” Brooks said. “I don’t care about that. All of the people that know me and who train with me and have seen me fight in person…know I’m the real deal, and Uncle Creepy, he’s going to get that mustache shaved off coming February 11th, and it’s in Brooklyn too. I like those fans, those fans remind me a lot of myself."

This interview is way more recent, he's talking about being healthy and injury free now, so I'm unsure if we can red flag him over an interview he had a year ago.

One underdog I am looking at is Nover. I was not impressed with Glenn at ALL in his fight against Dunham, but it was a short notice fight. But I think Nover can possibly get the W here. I need to look at Glenn's past fights but my initial thoughts are I like Nover at those odds.

This is a quote from Ian McCall himself (Nov 1, 2016 post when he visited Sherdog)

I can punch people with it, can't make a normal fist ever, maybe I'll break it again and the surgery will be done right for once haha

He says he can punch people but he cant make a normal fist. How can you punch someone without making a proper fist? Its tempting to bet Ian but the smart play would be just to stay away from this fight. Brooks could be this cards Ramos. And Ian hasn't fought since Silva beat Nick Diaz

This is exactly my thoughts. I think this fight opened up at evens but then shifted in favor of Glenn. I think I know the main reason. Nover is 11-7 and Glenn is 18-4.

Glenn's last fight outside the UFC: https://www.ufc.tv/video/rick-glenn-vs-ramiro-hernandez-victory-fc-51

I'm surprised to see 10 KO/TKO on Glenn's record. He doesn't seem to have good sharp technique and no power in his punches. He is a Bjj brown belt. Nover is much more athletic with better footwork. Glenn has that toughness. Idk i think it will be a close fight. I see Glenn marching forward and Nover circling and cutting angles. This fight is a guaranteed decision.

You can get away with it some what when your hands is tapped and you have a glove on. The tape and glove in effect create a brick.

Yes. It looks like he maybe has lived in Florida for a while now though. If he was training in Warsaw regularly, that would be an issue as Warsaw does not have a very big MMA scene. You can definitely tell with his first few fights by looking at the records lol. Honestly, he doesn't have many quality wins over people above 115 lbs. Most of his good wins are at 115 lbs.

Who knows with McCall, but I think there are just as many, if not more, question marks about this 115 lbs fighter from Warsaw making his debut.

Glenn's (T)Ko's are from overwhelming fighters like he did to Karakhanyan.

I gave up trying to believe if Mcall really has that many red flag injuries, probably becomes the biggest underdog and bets himself to go the distance, shame we can't confirm that otherwise distance prop would be smashed by sherdoggers.

Injury or no injury, fighters have shown incredible heart and ability to adjust just to win.

Miller +325 is bonkers. I'm on it.

Otherwise beaten all low end opponents, guys with questionable records or more Ls then Ws,
even his last opponent was 7-1 but that guy is asian and beaten all opponents with more Ls then anyone. Style wise he looks a strong and powerful wrestler, a natural 125 pounder looks like he has done everything right to get into the ufc, looks a good dog here
