UFC 211 pbp/discussion/etc

Andrade is officially the worst bet ive ever made terrible terrible bet. I bet her before i watched tape on anyone else thinking id have no strong leans. After watching tape i liked dp edgar and maia but i only make one big bet per card so i didnt want to over expose myself. I nearly bought out of my andrade bet multiple times but cos i bet large amounts it meant lots of visits to different bookies and i couldnt be arsed. Rather than leaving two units on Andrade i ended up with 3.5 cos i added when her line spiked. Normally im nervous as hell as a fight ive bet on starts but i was oddly calm like i knew it was going to lose. If im not convinced on a bet im never betting it again until ive watched tape on the whole card. Im a fuckin moron. Tbf out of edgar maia and dp i probably would have taken dp but at least i would have gotten my money back. Sucks but good learning curve.

I tried to tell ya

Don't worry you'll bounce back.

@Wiktoruspro you mean on my parlay? I messed up on one of the overs which was the Edgar fight. For some reason I took his ML on my single plays but for my parlays I opted to use the over thinking it could be safer.

Benitez/Barz o2.5
Jotko/Branch o2.5
Mas/Maia o1.5
Joanna/Andr o3.5
JAG/Casey o2.5

And of course the Yair/Edgar o2.5

Posting this to give everyone a good look at the direction of the game outside of Sherdog. Guy who always loses making absolutely horrendous bets and uses $10 = 1u sizes is a paid tout and sucks so much dick he got the once respectable Bookie Beatdown (RIP) to shout him out

Plot twist: that's JB's youtube channel and he's posting it to get more views on his video

I think Maia's gas tank issues are being overblown a bit. Yes, he does gas, but keep in mind he won the last round vs. Masvidal, subbed Brown in rd 3, beat Nelson, won a 5 rounder against LaFlare, etc. If Maia/Woodley goes deep, my guess is that it is also the highest paced fight Woodley has had to be in a while. I would not count on his gas tank either, and I strongly feel a gassed Woodley on the ground with Maia is in a far worse place than a gassed Maia on the feet with Woodley.

I seriously can't believe two judges gave masvidal round one against Maia.

That's some of the worst judging I've ever seen.

Hope they do a rematch between Alvarez and Poirier... Fight just cannot be dull.

Hell, make it 5 rounds.

Also, props to Poirier for how he handled things postfight in the cage, too

do you think that Masvidal would have won the fight with the new rules?

Not sure what you mean.. I think it's 30-27 maia with new or old rules

Being on someone's back is not a neutral position

I have it 30-27 both ways too. Was very surprised to see a split.

My understanding was new rules give points for damage not position. For example, getting TDs and being on top wont count for much if you dont do damage.

Seems to me new rules would have favoured mas heavily.

But sub attemps are highly regarded and maia had plenty of rnc attempts plus some gnp.

Still who knows, with these new rules you could make an argument for 30-27 both ways

Bet365 had Maia at +120 for the first two mins of r3. I'd already committed to Mas fairly large after r1 so I was hesitant to swap, but i went to absolutely hammer Maia two mins into r3 but just as I did the line was frozen. Just showing you how the books were reading it. I missed an absolute gift there.

yea i had 4u maia prefight, then did 2u masvidal -115 at the end of rd 1 based on how the round closed and fears about momentum swing / cardio issues for maia, but then i maxxed it back on maia +110 after rd 2, when i had him up 20-18 -- (all prices 5d) -- it actually opened +130 after rd 2, couldn't get it

There wasn't many (if any?) close sub attempts. It was basically hand fighting the whole fight. Also very little GNP. Don't get me wrong I was on Maia huge but he really didn't do much.

From a damage point of view Mas did way more. I wouldn't be surprised if Mas got the nod for that fight under new rules. But yeah who knows.

Was just thinking exactly this. It's madness we're staking all this money on the fights before we know what scoring criteria is going to be used for the event. There were two splits on this card and at least one of them could have gone the other way under the new rules.

We need to try and find out sooner what rules are going to be in effect for any given event, it matters big time if the fight's close.

Given the scoring, it wasn't really a gift? Masvidal would have won had Maia not scored a takedown pretty quickly from that point.
