UFN 113 - Ponzinibbio vs Nelson - Scotland

Nothing wrong with his technique on the feet. He's just slow. Extremely aggressive too, which is good to see.
ok, then we disagree. Coming out and throwing the same kick 4 straight times, only doing 1-2 punches. Slow with his hands and kicks, doesn't know how to get out of a clinch properly. Bad striking defense, hands very low. Drops both hands when he throws a leg kick. I noticed all those things.

Agree with the hands low, that's not smart. That doesn't make the rest "untechnical" though. Pumping 1-2's is not a bad idea against someone shorter than you, and against Frankenstein his jab looked excellent, as well as knees and uppercuts, very good shot selection.

Called Pedro beating Craig and Pedro SUB vs Rountree @8.00 in his debut.

I like Craig but he doesn't possess the power takedowns in his game that Pedro has. To get Rountree down he is going to have to get into clinch territory to get a trip or takedown against the cage and that puts him right in the range that Rountree can knock him out. Even against the cage Rountree iced Jolly.

Talked before about Rountrees lack of finesse on the feet but he is better on the feet than Craig and I expect he will put him away with strikes here. If Craig does get him down I suspect it's over immediately for Rountree but I don't see it happening.

He is very basic, doesn't mix up his striking well and spams the same stuff, once a fighter picks up his tendencies quick it's over, just like Pedro did. Timed him coming in when Craig dropped his hands for the leg kick. I think that is due to him not training MMA long. He did land a decent uppercut on Pedro out of the clinch I will give him that. It seems like his boxing at close range is better then staying at distance. Craig is game as fuck though, he will fight for your money but I think with his age and not training MMA long, it won't be a long career for him.

So I know this will sound like the old "I met BJ Penn at the airport" type stories, but here we go anyway.... My barber lives with Brett Johns.
No homo, there are a bunch of lads who live together who all train at Chris Rees Academy and it sounds like almost a permanent TUF house, all eating and breathing MMA 24/7 (with some part-time haircutting inbetween)
He was telling me how Brett has stepped his game up immensely, thinks he can beat the UFC most takedowns record once again in this fight with Morales! After his last fight was cancelled when Entwhistle retired on the scales, he has been chomping at the bit and is the most focused he has ever been. So it seems as if Brett will be looking to implement a wrestling based strategy.
I originally thought Brett matched up well with Morales and would be able to control him for a decision in anycase, but just thought id share this additional "inside info" from an admittedly biased source

For your convenience so you don't have to go searching shit up (and cause Daniel Teymur isn't on Sherdog's event list?)
most recent fight (TKO win r1)

3rd most recent fight (SUB win r1)

4th most recent fight (SUB win r1)

his 2nd most recent fight is off the radar as far as I know

Not sure I see anything going well for JoJo. I initially thought it was a terrible matchup so I was expecting Calvillo to open as a decent favorite. I think she mauls JoJo especially in scrambles after JoJo gets a front kick caught. Maybe i'm a bit delusional here but I def see a finish for Calvillo.

jesus fuckin christ worst card ever for betting. really liked daniel until i watched the emerik fight. then i looked at his insta looks like he got the call while on his honeymoon which he's only just returned from. and to top it off i can't find one fight of his opponents. Pass

You're not a true degen if you do not blindly bet on someone for action jk. I'll probably just make a bet on how they look at weigh-ins for at least a few bucks haha

It's true. He got the call while on his honeymoon so he wasn't training. Started working out at the hotel when he got the call lol. He isn't big for the weight class to begin with and will probably be smaller now due to less training.

3 month old interview (looking well fed, showing her new Icelandic tattoo)

Loving Montreal at Tristar, I can only hope to fight in Scotland, I wanted to fight in London, been at Tristar for a year, only started to make improvements since my last fight, alot to take in, alot of coaches, so many people there, I was lost as a fighter, but now I've found myself, now I'm working on striking, scrambling, get back to my feet, before I was a BJJ fighter, would be good to fight a striker, last fighter took me down

Nelson training partners - first guy says alot of cardio training has been done, says cardio will not be an issue, will be very fit, Gunnar will get him down for a submission, might take him a couple rounds

My hometown, what dreams are made of, last camp, I busted my ass, worked hard, but it wasn't my night, this time, no travel, I'm in the gym everyday, not working full time anymore, I'm a grappler, he has a good wrestling background, but he's a striker, I just need to move, hit, move, I want to fight Shogun, I went to AllStars camp for a week, I was able to hold my own, that's where I should be, (interview says his Scotland gym has no high level guys), fight camp started right after Pedro fight
