UFC 215 PBP/Discussion

@EzFlyer I value your opinion so i just wanted to ask how you saw nunes winning the 5th? I saw it clearly for Shev. Shev out struck nunes by double, had the more power on her strikes. According to the new rules of scoring the judges should consider the stand up and not the ground at all if nothing important happened on the ground. Those 2 takedowns were worth nothing in the new scoring system, not to mention that shev did more damage once the fight got there. Even with the shitty judging it should of at least been a draw due to the fouls nunes continued to do and get warned about with no points taken away. i thought it was one warning and then a point. big john warned at least 4 times, did he want her to actually poke her eye before taking a point? these new rules were great but fuck why have them if nobody uses them? Anyways the 5th seemed to be clear cut for shev to me, but you saw it completely different. just wondering why?

I tend to agree with EZ a lot of the time, but I'm with you 100% here. I thought the 5th was clearly Shev's round, especially with the new scoring criteria. And you're right, Nunes should have lost a point as well.

I dunno about you guys but I'm grabbing my pitchfork and a torch and heading to canadia.

Nvm that, if you wanna favor the hug I can see an argument for Nunes rd5 easy. I'd like to know what exactly EZ saw that makes him think the 4th was close. The 4th was dominant for Shev.

All praise our lord and savior Latifi.

I saw an even striking battle where nunes actually came out pretty aggressively in the first 60-90 seconds of the 5th, then a minute or so of no one doing anything, then the ill-advised head and arm attempt which resulted in her getting her back taken.. then they got up and nunes controlled her against the cage and dumped her with a double leg . And no one did much after that.

Pretty clear for nunes imo

And I see very Little evidence of new criteria ever being applied, semi off subject

Fair enough thanks for your response. I do agree these new rules are not being used at all.

Does it matter? I'm not trying to brag, I am just trying to understand what makes these markets tick.

I didn't post about Moras bc I only made a tiny bet on Moras. I didn't understand why anybody would want to bet on AES as a big fave, so I assumed there was some sharp reason I was missing. My stat model isn't great yet and I am new to UFC betting so I'm approaching with a bit of caution here.

For somebody who loves to talk about helping each other win you aren't being too helpful here.

I know you're new here, but coming in saying "I knew Moras was likely to win" about as helpful as a stomach ache. I searched your posts and you said nothing prior to the fight.

hang on. you're more mad about nunes getting rd 4 than shevchenko getting rd 5? lol

terrible stuff either way, lol
I avoided this fight like the plague as I expected weirdness from those two. Glad I did.

I totally disagree with you on the scoring of the 5th. I actually think that round is the perfect example of what is wrong with MMA judging.

Edit: By the way I did not think there was a clear winner. Rd 1 was the only super clear round in my eyes. I had 4 and 5 for Shev but 2 and 3 were too hard to judge.

Im more scoring it the way I expect the judges to score it. That's what we have to do as bettors.

Watch it again

Also...ending up on top in a scramble isnt the same as scoring a TD imo. Judges may not agree.

Still advantageous positioning.

Again, I can easily see the argument for Nunes round 5. More concerned with EZ, the mentally retarded judge, and anyone else who thought round 4 was close or Nunes. Shev dominated that fucking round, I thought it was cleanest round of the fight. Shev was cracking Nunes, winning EVERY exchange, making her miss. Lol @ thinking its close or giving it to Nunes cause of baby leg kicks. Nick Diaz was prob raging if watching

Yeah r4 clearly Shev.

Yeah, the gofundme after 2 year break was a bit of a worry. My stat model had Moras as better though, and I couldn't see the 2 year break hurting THAT much.

Moraes is absolutely terrible. AES just fought the stupidest way she possibly could have, which I guess isn't that surprising. But your statmodel needs some serious work if it that Moraes as better - Outcome of fight =/= always the outcome that should be expected.

lesbians made me quite some money this year
Amanda by KO/TKO/Disqualification or Decision was +225 / 3.25

Moras really had one path to victory and she pulled it off well. No idea why AES jumped back into guard. It's just strange how she can fight like she did vs. Reneau and then fight completely to her opponent's strength in this one.

Yeah, one, and AES just gave it up. But i guess that proves the old adage of "Just bet the dog" in WMMA true...

FWIW I was on Nunes but I thought Valentina was winning the fight, particularly under the new scoring criteria. To the extent that I tried squeezing in a late live bet on Shev when she got to plus money right at the end, luckily the lines froze as I pressed confirm saving my bacon. I got lucky.

I guess we have to read how the judges are scoring things on the night rather than focusing on which ruleset is being used for the event. Which makes it a bit of a nightmare for bettors when there aren't many fights going to decision on the card, much less close decisions.
