UFC 229: McGregor vs Khabib

The wise monk knows there's never locks when placing a bet you think is a sure thing i.e the "easy money" fallacy.
I am placing a low 10k wager on this massive headliner. Be weary as there are external factors that you should consider before placing a wager on this fight.
Didn't get to where I am now by making quick picks. Have already invested hours upon hours dissecting this fight hence the significant wager.

Interestingly enough, as I write this short tidbit I am listening to C.R.E.A.M - Wu Tang Clan

No mention of Trump or ex-girlfriends ruining your life and sending you into spirals of depression. You finally turning the corner Barry?

What "external factors" are you thinking? Injuries? A quick stoppage after Conor connects on the feet? A quick stand up if Khabib isn't active enough on the ground? Bad judging? A Vegas fix? The fanman making a comeback and sailing in from the top rafter of the ceiling?

This Barry guy needs to up his meds by the looks of it.

You newer guys have absolutely no idea of Barry's legendary status here. He was nicknamed "the cooler" for how bad he was with his picks. Talked of taking out "another thousand" cash advance on his credit card to keep gambling with. Back then he'd reply to posts too. Then seemingly overnight he started posting with this persona of being a super sharp pro, but with the traumatic undercurrent of his personal life (struggles with depression, women, and even his life being ruined by the political landscape).

It's seriously like folklore here. I have no clue what's real (if anything) and what's just his character he's created. Was he ever really so down on his luck? His picks sucked but was he really throwing $ away on them? What's his actual deal now? Nobody knows, and he never replies to posts. He somewhat recently posted 2 NBA plays (a prop and another point spread bet) totaling 25u that both lost. He acted like it never happened in his next post where he bragged of being the sharpest guy here.

It's Andy Kaufmann-level dedication to his schtick. Pretty amazing honestly.

Lol, this is the best thing I’ve read in awhile. Based on your story, I bet you he started off trolling then turned into a degenerate because he and other posters believed in his Sherdog character so much. Totally reminds me of the “aim for the bushes” thing in The Other Guys.

This is a million dollar script just waiting to happen.

Just the wording of his posts and the bragging lead me to believe that he is trolling. It is entertaining for sure.

Was really hoping for better odds on Reyes. The guy has 9 fights, his biggest win is canonier and he’s facing a guy who’s a tricky as hell match up for someone who’s green in the sport. The pure horsepower Dominick brings is impressive and he has a nice southpaw double attack, but osp is a freak type athlete too , and he might not be the most skilled or consistent but the dude has a bag of tricks a mile deep. That plus money makes him super tempting.

I think it's stylistically a decent matchup for OSP. Reyes is a stud and a potential top 5 LHW. But we haven't seen him face anyone who can really match his skills. Wouldn't be super confident either way, dog OSP is probably worth it here

I thought Cannonier would put up a good fight vs Reyes (even if I did think Reyes would win). Now coming into this fight I literally have no good read at all. OSP presents some different challenges but I'm thinking it may be stupid to keep doubting Reyes.

Pass for me at current odds.

Yeah I thought so too but I also thought people were overrating Cannon at the time. OSP has a well-proven track record. Wouldn't go big on him but might as well go for him on plus odds in a striking matchup

He has been doing it for years now. Always amusing to see what he comes up with next. He seemed to jinx even the biggest of favorites with his"cooler" status. Can still recall how "sure" he was of Clinton winning the US election..

Yes! Another old-timer like me. I remember you even though you don't post much here anymore. You appreciate all the craziness of Barry through the years like I do.

Yes I have mostly been a lurker here. I miss a few old school posters but at least some (like yourself, the original betting thread starter Oblivian ...and good old Barry) stick around!

there is an underdog on these early lines that fucking catapults off the page to me.

Khabib is the rightful fav and winner

dont think conor will stop the takedown
