I've always found GOAT discussions involving fighters who not just presently fighting, but at or near their primes to be absurd.

Remember earlier this year when a bunch of outlets were belatedly calling Stipe the greatest heavyweight ever? And then he gets smashed by a 39 year-old moving up from light heavyweight he was strongly favored against? Yeah...

Got 3U on Aldo at +100 at Skybet. Think he dominates especially in a 3 round fight.

anyone have a counter argument to me lumping on dillashaw at -200?

Cejudo just beat a all time great and the fight is in a weight class that TJ has never fought in before. He is already ripped, how will his body handle the cut? Can he stop the takedowns?

Can't really argue with it. Only Cruz could get down TJ consistently and he popped right back up each time. I expect TJ to probably TKO Cejudo late.

I think TJ working with some of the same training techniques as Vasyl(boxer) has brought his boxing to a new level. His hands looked PHENOMENAL in the Cody rematch

I do worry about it being at125 though. Which makes no sense with them probably scrapping the division

I think the point of the fight is to see if it was DJ's fault, or if other contenders at 125 (more outspoken ones like TJ) can draw large audiences.

I think Dana is hoping TJ will win so he can just dump the strap in a garbage can

Weight cut is a concern (a big one if this goes to the later rounds) but other than that he should win. I'm rooting for cejudo tbh lol.

Actually I have a feeling that Dana personally wants to keep the flyweight division, but he's getting pressured by other execs or bean counters at Endeavor to do away with it to save money. That's why Dana keeps hemming and hawing and not being clear about the future of the flyweight division as he's trying to save it behind the scenes.

From a sporting perspective they cant possibly want to can mens 125 when some of the womens divisions are so weak. The women however are cheaper and all they look at is profit/loss

Women get paid the same in the UFC at the starting level at least as male fighters. For the mid-level and higher fighters the contracted purses are all over the place depending on who they are managed by or their looks or popularity, male & female both. I don't know that women actually get paid less overall. Maybe so if you add it all up and average it out. Will be interesting to see what happens. I think it's a disgrace for the biggest promotion in the world to drop a division.

Guys like Cejudo/MM/Benavides/Formiga etc are earning more than the soccer mums they have been putting on main cards...

You're comparing apples to oranges, though. Sure, the top few male flyweights are making more money than cannon fodder women, but are they making more than Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko? No.

And that comparison isn't random, since Nunes-Shevchenko 2 did a horrendous 100k PPV buys, worse than Mighty Mouse versus a generic flyweight.

Thus, it's not a pure matter of economics for why they drop men's 125 pounders, or else they would drop women's 115, 125, 135, and 145, too.

Holy openers Batman!
