UFC 236 Holloway vs Poirier 2

I think a lot of people are overreacting to Millender's last loss. I remembered I was one of the few on Zaleski against him. I had to make sure I wasn't going crazy and checked the thread on that event. Did so many people have a high opinion of him that just dropped after that quick of a fight? Zaleski is far more dangerous and a finisher than Belal. I think the biggest factor here is that you have a decision fighter facing a guy who typically does not lose decisions. Millender is hard to get comfortable against, especially with a guy like Belal who is very hittable. Shooting from a mile out against Millender is dangerous as well.

I also think we need to put into perspective what lines people are betting. I have Millender at +130. I can't really knock people playing the other side at the same price. It's a close fight.

That fight is actually mostly irrelevant to me, we knew he had a poor ground game and TDD prior to that. I was on Curtis there for 1u cause I stupidly didn't expect Zaleski to be able to take advantage of that.

Millender may be my favourite striker in the UFC. Not saying he's the best, but I love the style.

I see Neal being brought up.

In my opinion Neal is legit. I think he's a much better fighter than Mill.

I'm a little amused at the way people view Millender now. If the guy has such wretched takedown defense, such poor sub defense, and is so useless off his back, how in the world did the guy go 9-1 in his last 10 fights, including a LFA title reign, 3-1 in the UFC, AND beating multiple opponents he was an underdog against in the process? How did he manage to beat a dangerous grappler in Kevin Holland? How did he beat Max Griffin?

Most of these guys wrestled with Millender and many took him down, so it's not like they were too stupid to think of this, either.

Siyar and Griffin are strikers whom rarely wrestle. No need to go down a rabbit hole.

Huh? Siyar has been wrestling a lot more since his return from injury. Hell, he beat Thach solely through wrestling. As for Griffin, he was out-wrestling Zaleski dos Santos in their fight and he beat Alves solely with wrestling in round 3 of their fight despite being utterly exhausted.

Neither are good wrestlers (although their striking does open up more opportunities for them than Muhammad's striking does), but if we're going to call them "poor", that means very few welterweights in the entire world are even "decent".

Not really sure how to debate your last point regarding Siyar being gassed, it was fairly noticeable to me. Anyone else can feel free to chime in if I am off base, not going to rewatch it again. (EDIT) I see Sham posted above saying Siyar was indeed exhausted.

I watched the fight this morning. Bahadurzada was hurt and wobbly at times, but not exhausted in the cardio sense. He threw very powerful punches I have yet to see anyone "completely gassed" throw. The same way that Muhammaed was hurt in round 3 against Neal, not exhausted.

Barry, if you are in need of someone to talk to and aren't trolling, I'm here for ya man. PM me and I'm happy to talk to you about personal demons, I've struggled with them my whole life.

Yeah, his striking is not only excellent and varied, but his defense is very good as well. If Millender ever shores up his wrestling and grappling, he will be an absolute terror in the division.

I know there's a lot of you here that view me as a POS, but I am stuck in a rut. Worse yet, my personal life is in shambles and I find it a struggle each and every damn day to live life to its fullest.

I am at my lowest point and I am in the dumps. I've made the executive decision to cease handicapping until things change and I can get my life back on track. This isn't about betting anymore and honest to God I

need everyone's prayers and well wishes because the evil forces are pulling me in. Metaphorically speaking that is.

I'm not in the right frame of mind. For Christ Sakes, this is all that's left in my Pinnacle account (from a high 5 figure balance)

Like me or hate me I can tell you this: nobody deserves what I am currently dealing with. I wouldn't wish my personal problems on my worst enemy.

I don't know when I'll be back or if I'll ever return. Amidst the chaos in the world, I walk alone as a nomad struggling to find meaning. Being a loner with no friends I've cherished my moments here on Sherdog.

Even if this is, as I suspect, part of a years long Andy Kaufman-esque schtick, your posts- as whacky as they are- are still a breath of fresh air compared to those of a couple of the disingenuous and self congratulatory dickheads who are regulars now.

He's trolling 100%

@barrygood1 you should not have openly criticised your beloved president so much on this forum.
It might just be karma getting back at you.
Make a few genuine Trump-friendly posts and you can rise from the ashes like a phoenix and live up to your potential again

It's what I call the Trump thump. Trump won. All the losers need to get over it or face the karmic consequences.

ok I’ll keep my opinions to my self and you guys can have your little forum
This is no ones forum. If you want to speak go right ahead. However, you must understand that there are always consequences for whatever you say. Both positive & negative. If you are perceptive & have good pattern recognition skills in regards to studying fight tape then you'll get along great with most on this forum. This forum has nickel & dimers along with gamblers who play with 5 digit gambling accounts. Always remember that it's us vs the bookies.

im with you on that one and I can take constructive criticism just don’t need the added bs. What I was saying was food for thought.

For the people who are on Imadaev, can you explain why? I mentioned last night that he's a can crusher making his ufc debut and only been to the 3rd round once. Maybe there's something I don't know and I can be swayed to go on his side, but initially was thinking Griffin can pull through.

Anybody else like Reis as a dog...?

<{vega}>

Just finished watching tape on both. Reis' path to victory is to have decent enough striking to close distance into clinching range. A significant portion of the fight will be spent up against the fence. Reis will be able to get Pantoja down from there. After watching Reis' match with Formiga I believe Reis will be able to have a decent amount of control over Pantoja in spite of Alexandre's superior scrambling ability. Furthermore, Alexandre's jits will prevent Reis from accomplishing much ground and pound as it will take all of Wilson's prowess to maintain a modicum of control. As soon as Wilson tries to get any ground and pound going Alexandre will use that as an opportunity to scramble for better position. Reis has a choice to either maintain control or get some ground and pound going. He will not be able to do both. If I were Reis I would try to spend very little time at kicking range. I would use my striking as a means to an end. That end being to close distance then get a hold of Alexandre. After achieving double underhooks & getting Alexandre's back up against the cage I would try to drain him. It would be wise for Wilson to spend as much time as possible (ref warning) pressing Alexandre against the fence. It is easily the safest position for Wilson. The two ways Pantoja can end this fight are a surprise strike on the feet (think Formiga right hand round 2/Cejudo right hand round 2) or taking Reis' back on the ground.

Griffin +165 was an excellent play for those that bet. If Griffin fights Imadaev the same way he fought Perry he may win. However, the difference between Perry & Imadaev is in their wrestling games. The opening odds were based on all the hype surrounding Imadaev. This match should be a pass. But I can't blame anyone for taking a stab on Griffin or Imadaev at plus odds. Griffin said in an interview that he has sparred with Imadaev in the past & that Imadaev was good. I found it curious that Max called Zelim a jerk & seemed to imply that he's a bit of a gym bully. I wonder why Max didn't put Zelim in his place at the gym? Perhaps because he couldn't. I decided to take a stab on Zelim @ +140.

For any of your crazy shit Barry, I genuinely wish you well. Sherdog might be a mess and for all we say, it truely is us against the bookies and you are, rightly or wrongly, fundamentally part of that. You've got this, preservance is all it takes. Good luck and I'm sure you'll be there in the month's to come.

What kind of stuff did Barrygood1 post? I've never read any of his comments. Never even heard of him till now. Actually, I'm going to read his last 10 posts right now. I'll get back to ya.

Well barrygood1 doesn't seem like a bad guy. He's absolutely terrible at predicting fight outcomes though. Good grief. Makes me wonder if he does any tape study or just flips a coin.
