CLETO REYES Gloves Honest Review from an HONEST Guy

do you actually use your gloves or like to show them off then try to tell people you fight

ive just got 16 oz velcro cletos and they are so damn stiff!!! needs a LOT of break in time, the pocket is very big, my hand doesnt fit properly in it and everytime im using it right now my wrists get sore if i hit power punches, im 95 kg in weight. i weighted the gloves and they are SO off from their label weight each one is almost 20 oz!!!they are softening up a bit now and fit a bit better but its very frustrating.is that normal for reyes gloves ???

Pretty much with the velcros. My 16oz I had came in at 19.1 and 18.5oz, I have a pair of the hybrid gloves now and they are medium which is meant to be 12 to 14oz they are both around 15.5-16oz

pretty damn heavy man, what about the other stuff is that normal for a reyes? will it get better with time? ive had them for a month now and they are a bit softer, i bought them cs i like thin padding and like a good feedback when i train, the crafstmanship is great though and i just want them to soften up so i can use them fully its frustrating lol

What are you using them for? If your using them on a bag then yes they should soften up more you use them, if you just doing pads / light bag work that might take an age.....I am a bit surprised by the comments on pocket size and wrist as I find the wrist support good for a Velcro and the pockets on the smaller side.

im using them for training meaning bag/pads etc... the wrist support is there, but im a very heavy hitter for real and because the glove is still stiff its like im punching with a wooden brick if you know what i mean it didnt mold to my hands yet so im getting these pains and aches etc... i think i have to go a bit lighter when punching thats the only way its gonna work, other than that its a great glove highly recommended a piece of art indeed its just that looong break in time. by the way the pocket is not

I assume you are using decent length wraps? I am a heavy hitter too (so I am told) They should break in on the bag maybe just give it a little longer. If you go for softer padding like winning it feels totally different and by sounds of it not really what you want.

im using 180 wraps ya im using good wraps and know how to wrap really well too. you know what? yesterday i was training in them and i think they have softened up a bit but that damn ridge where the thumb meets the hand is pressing a bit and is still tight i hope that improves too with time. the elastic band on the piping on the left glove tore a bit yesterday i was trying to get my hand in the glove im a bit pissed but i should be able to fix it should be no big deal.

for the record...the most comfortable gloves i ever used are the everlast powerlocks but unfortunately their padding doesnt last long but the fit is awsum very snug and no hand movement inside and it protects your hand really well and its compact i like that.

Ok was just checking re the wraps. I think the elastic band at the top tearing is fairly common as seen a few for sale on ebay like that. It is really really tight vs the pocket size, well it was on mine. That is one reason why I changed to the hybirds as I have put elastic laces in the top so I can "adjust" how tight that bit is.

I hope yours break in soon just have to help pounding away I think, they should get to a comfortable level will just take some time.

i decided to use smaller 120 wraps until the leather stretches out a bit more and it becomes more roomy etc...what do you think?

should work just need to take it easy on the power punches I guess they really should break in, but they are a punchers glove so padding will be stiffer than others

guys i just noticed that the grip bar on the left glove has a manufacturing defect, its too tight and thick on the left glove and hurting my fingers everytime i train, the right glove is ok. what can i do? can i replace the glove or fix it in any way?? im so pissed off of this any help is appreciated. i thought it would loosen up with time but it didnt.

wish i could bro but obviously i cant take a pic of the inside of the glove, its just a really hard bar thats thicker than its supposed to be its the grip bar you grip to make a fist and it presses on my fingers when i wear the glove, its only in my left glove.

so on the inside that is very strange....where did you get them? can you send them back? failing that maybe contact Cleto Reyes directly
