I suppose John Lineker getting cut will be this days poll?

Our poll for this week's show is now up, asking you why you think the UFC released John Lineker.

Also, programming note. The Trenches will be published around its normal time on THURSDAY, and not Wednesday as it was previously announced. As Ant is previously indisposed covering the events surrounding UFC 239, he and Burgos will record the show tomorrow and we will post it then.

No idea why Lineker was released. I was also surprised they didn't resign Arjan Bhullar he was something like 3-1 not the most exciting guy but they need HW's

Why did the UFC release John Lineker?
The same reason they let Mousasi, MacDonald, and others go: to help the UFC's defense against the anti-trust lawsuit.

Same here. Although One is dying to pick up ex-UFC guys, so they probably outbid the UFC and moved on.

They cut Lineker because they are morons.
We legitimately considered a "Because the UFC is stupid" option. Realized it would take home too many protest votes and could skew the poll.

I think a big part of it was him being so vocal about his financial woes. The UFC doesn't like fighters who make them look bad in public.

He's a regular Pet Shop Boy.

why can I only select one answer?

Other: "All of the above"

Is JL a good fighter? yes. Is he fun to watch? Hell yes. But can you rely on him to actually turn up (and make weight)? Hell no.

Hes just not reliable. You invest money in promoting his fight, the opponent puts in the work, does a full camp. and what happens. The worst bit is the other fighters. How many guys have been let down by Lineker not showing up.

John Lineker who's a fighter that brings a lot has been released while Chris Weidman whoose only reason to be is being brutalized by the others is 1-4 (1-5 had not USADA banned TRT one night before his fight with Belfort) and we're talking about Weidman vs. Jones.

I'm okay not firing Weidman, but then don't fire Lineker instead.

People say he was exciting. He had one good fight V Brian Kelleher a complete stinker V John Dodson. Tepid Win V Marlon Vera and Lost a one decided outgrappling from TJ and dead average loss to Cory Sandhagen. The rest of his fights I can barely remember.

He wasn't a big personality, wasn't unmissable action and pulled out and missed weight constantly. I'll barely notice he is gone.
