UFC 241 Cormier vs Miocic II

If this were true, why are they wasting their time fighting more skilled fighters? Why not move up and have everyone praise your balls for fighting bigger guys?

If the competition is easier and the rewards are potentially higher why not challenge stipe or ngannou? You'd get major props for calling out ngannou so why not......

I think we know why.

Hard work and talent don't matter as much in HW because they all hit so hard.

Fancy weigh-in hot takes:

-Mazo-Dobson: I struggle to have enough self control to pass on fights and I'm staying miles away from this one.
-Kang-Davis: both guys looks great. Davis a little taller. No play for me atm.
-Cifers-Esquibel: that #fakenews pictures that was circulating from the media day had me worried. No more. Little Cifers is actually pretty jacked. And Cejudo needs to take a page out of the cringe playbook that Cifers obvisouly wrote. Now that's how to be awkward. Also, a past version of me decided -270 wasn't too rich to play on a fucking wmma split decision. smfh.
-Bermudez-Kenney: Berm a few inches taller. Both look great.
-Giagos-Klose: stealing another poster's line but, yeah, two hyped guys and talking shit = decision. Both look good.
-Sandhagen-Assuncao: Cory is such a scrawn haha. Good thing the UFC belt is velcro so when he wins it it won't slide off his hips. Cory is way taller.
-Smith-Worthy: Meh. Pass. Watch it be FOTN.
-Brunson-Heinisch: Heinisch looks really good. Brunson looking good too. Same size and height. Should be a great sweat for me and my 5u on that one.
-Benitez-Yusuff: Passing again. Don't know enough. Could be a good live bet spot though.
-Costa-Romero: Do these guys even bother working out? Both look like shit.
-Pettis-Diaz: Firm in my belief that Diaz kinda looks like shit. Maybe that's normal. Pettis looks good, energetic. Maybe it was his bowed back but Diaz does look bigger. Def taller.
-DC-Miocic: both guys look good. Stipe is a bit taller, does everyone know that?

Should be a gooder!

Anyone taking the mental fortitude and pure willpower of an Olympian into account? Especially someone who wrestled to that level?

That is a work ethic / mental toughness unmatched by 99% of the worlds population

Ex: Cejudo v Moraes round 1 vs how the fight ended

Olympic wrestlers are built different man. Never fade an Olympic wrestler
Each case is different, counter examples would be that Michel Batista guy from the last TUF season and Sarah Mcmann, both are Olympians, but both have consistently folded in fights. That Moraes fight was a beastly comeback, but Cejudo also had missed weight multiple times in the past. Nothing against him, but that's at least an argument he hasn't been 100% consistent with dat Olympian work ethic.

Absolutely.

These two men are not comparable when it comes to the mentality of an athlete. (Says a lot about Whittaker imo) Yoels price is getting better. Probably gonna dip back in if it gets significant. Weigh ins another plus. Dude looks like some demi god from Greek myths

I've known a ridiculous amount of people on steroids, including bodybuilders, and not a single one looks even half as chiseled as Romero.

I'm not gonna even add a no homo to that statement, because I'm sure plenty of ya'll are in the gym frequently and know how much work it takes to achieve a body even half as defined as that.

I'm a little more concerned about my Stipe bet after seeing DC weigh in at 234(or was it 236). If he ballooned up to 250, I'd be way more confident. But the fact that he weighed in less than he did the last fight shows that he's still been grinding at the gym.

All popeyes and no gym time makes for a big boy.

I played football with a guy not dissimilar to Romero. And he was clean. It wasnt ever speculated he wasnt. Had known him since we were kids. He was just always like that. You could spend all summer in the gym and wouldnt get close to what he looked like after bible camp. Totally gentleman too. One of the best people I knew way back then.

There is that lottery. And some do win it.

True. He's a specimen.

Either Costa is going to end up looking like an incredibly square bet, or Romero's age is finally going to show.

I think people betting on Costa, myself being one of them, are banking on the ladder.

If it makes it out of round 1 we'll have a pretty good indication of who's going to win.

I don't think Romero can afford to conserve his energy like he does in most fights here. Costa is going to walk him down, and if Romero doesn't respond, he's going to sleep.

Costa is like +115 right now. Props aren't out on my book. What's Costa KO at, like +130? Lol

You should be worried about Costa's lack of movement and Yoels creativity counter striking but best of luck. Great fight

i think most of us on costa are very aware he could get obliterated, we're just playing the numbers.

Costa is a smallish underdog now. Maybe that made sense at or near the opener.

man Diaz & Pettis really hate each other. any props for them to not touch gloves?

I really doubt costa goes out guns blazing. This is yoel romero guys no owalu bamgboze. Albarracin i'm pretty sure knows this (he even said he hopes romero is passed it, honest guy) and i feel the gameplan is to have a feeling out process in the first round. The over looks good and obviously yoel 3rd.
Not my fav fight to bet tho

Yoel’s body could instantly turn an average looking guy into potential male model

Actually insane the human body is capable of looking like that past it’s physical prime.

I wish my parents would’ve given me a blood transfusion from Yoel when I was a baby..

Most recreational lifters on roids don't know the first fucking thing for either strength or hypertrophy. Many are actually smaller and significantly weaker than recreational lifters who follow a solid powerlifting program for a few years.

Guys like Romero and Costa obviously have great genetics, train very effectively, AND take at least 1 gram of anabolic steroids a week. Which actually isn't that much by bodybuilder standards, but is more than enough for them.

Both DC and Stipe are very smart fighters. (DC moreso than Stipe) Both fighters correctly realized that the fight will likely be decided by striking, and with both of them quite old, decided it would be smart to drop some weight to be faster, more elusive, and have better cardio.

DC being 251 against Lewis was smart too, since his plan was never to strike, but to immediately clinch and take him down. Being heavier made sense for the purposes of wrestling and top control against the 280+ pound Lewis.

Whatever Romero is on, he has genetics that not many others in this world have.

Brock level etc etc

Guy is just naturally gifted and a freak, roids just make him nuts
