UFC 247 PBP/Discussion

when Tim donaghy was fixing games, did David Stern hire him to do it? The idea what Dana or Ari are bribing judges is laughable.

You keep droning "laughable!", "laughable!" like a broken wind-up doll, but I noticed you avoided my question about when you started watching, and whether you ever saw Liddell-Belfort and Liddell-Bustamente live and can explain the commentary and judging for either? (Coincidentally, at a time when the UFC was trying very hard to make Liddell the new face of the UFC, and Dana White, president of the company, was his fucking MANAGER and close personal friend)

And it's not "bribing".

The UFC can very easily drop a few hints here and there about who they want to win certain fights. Judges who play ball get more assignments and bigger fights, and those that don't are no longer judging UFC cards.

Marcos Rosales and Chris Lee are two long-time "team players" that the UFC can count on to give the proper result for big fights.

The people who think a sport literally controlled by organized crime during its golden age (The Mafia for the UFC and Yakuza for PRIDE in the early to mid 2000s) has no judge tampering are the same people who think the vast majority of top fighters are clean and not taking PEDs of any kind.

It’s bad when I see Reyes win the first three rounds and don’t live bet him at plus odds because I know the potential for the ufc to protect its cash cow

You are smarter than me. I figured Jones needs an adversary in the LH div. and not only could Reyes win - but there would be more PPV with a rematch. Didn't expect they would pull another McGregor here.

I dont believe the conspiracy. Its just bad judges. Dana et al know what ruined boxing...

Damm thats like 15u, thats huge, yeah you definitely play very aggressivle,y but i like it, it works and you hit at the right times. 5u a bit too high for my taste, my max is usualy 1u sometimes 2u, but i do know the insane value should be capitalized on more. Do you ever find it harder to livebet if you´re down alot, or if you´re up alot? Like sometimes either being too scared, or being too overconfident? I usaully dont have a problem chasing, but rather that i play too defensively. had 4000 on moreno...stupid af, i didnt like it, at all, but lesson learned. Hopefully haha.

Betfair seems good, but i always find it confusing with the ways to bet there, like do you just use the straight picks where you choose to bet regular moneyline or do you choose the option with where you offer some other buyer odds? like "selling" i never used that, always found it confusing. Very new to it.

3000dkk is a great profit! 15U, huge night for you. But i feel i say that nearly every time hahaha! Enjoy it, well earned!

I play waaaaaaaaay better when i am up. Feel way more free and can actually capitalize faster instead of double guessing and being scared of losing more. I actually snowball a lot of the time, either bad or good. I am getting better of not caring as much, since you can see your statistics and there will be variance, but the goal should just be to get a profit in the long run, which is working so far.

I very rarely lay odds, but most of the time i just back bets. You can play both ways. In the beginning i just watched the exchanges and didnt really bet, until i understood it and how to use em correctly. I am probably not utilizing it perfectly, but i am profiting from them so far. Kinda glad i got limited on bet365, as exchanges obviously wont and now i wont stress about getting limited

And Dana is a huge boxing fan who wants the UFC to be purely wild striking affairs, AND has tanked the UFC's value with boneheaded decision after boneheaded decision over the last 4 years, AND used to pull the same shit in the early years of the UFC.

Anyways, this is like talking to a brick wall. Same people probably think USADA is legit and that barely any UFC fighters are using PEDs anymore. (As opposed to, like, 95% of them)

When did you start following MMA, out of curiosity?

I can't imagine that anyone who watched Liddell-Bustamente or Liddell-Belfort live, AND listened to the cartoonish commentary for both of those would ever say anything as silly as "UFC leadership doesn't influence judges, lol!"

Nevermind that influencing judges is the absolute easiest shit in the world.
I said leadership doesn’t directly manipulate results. I choose my words carefully so please don’t misquote me. It’s unbecoming. Sure judges can be “influenced”, whether that’s possible isnt the relevant inquiry. I’m talking about active manipulation by leadership, not some rando shipping $500 to Adalaide Byrd via Venmo or whatever

I noticed you still didn't answer my question. What a surprise.

Hey, there are some people who think there is no corruption in boxing, either. Naive true believers unite!

We are talking about two different things. I don’t particularly care about indirect influence resulting from general awareness about which way the wind is blowing. I’m taking about claims that Dana is telling the judges who should win. And GTFO w your questions about whether I saw Liddell/Bustamente or whatever like that’s some trump card. We get it Paul, you’ve been following the sport for a super long time, congrats

Geez. Clearly I’m a masochist for this. But whats your question? I’ll happily answer it.

EDIT: the one about the old fights? Lol. You’re so thirsty for my CV. I’m old and have been a fan for a very long time.

See above, boo. Let me know if you require more specific information.

It's not about following the sport for a long time. (I was watching MMA long before either fight, anyways)

It's about you claiming "X never happens! It's laughable!", me bringing up 2 different fights where X happens way more clearly than Jones-Reyes, then you being too pig-headed to even think about what I asked you, or why.

Edit-

See above, boo. Let me know if you require more specific information.

If you insist on being willfully ignorant, that's up to you.

You just come across as a dumb child when you go around telling "Santa Claus is real and it's laughable to claim otherwise!" to actual adults who know the sport way better than you.

I dont believe the conspiracy. Its just bad judges. Dana et al know what ruined boxing...

And they also know BILLIONS were made over the decades fixing it. Bad judges? 2 of the 3 judges are long time UFC judges. What possible excuse could they have for giving this fight to Jones 3-2 when Jones got his ass beat 3 1/2 rounds and overall LOST the fight AND the compubox statistics prove his ass was out boxed.

It's a shame the commentary crew thought the decision was up for grabs. Joe as usual got caught up in his own narrative which was that Bones was fresher fighter. But he still lost the 3rd round as the fresher fighter. Who gives a FUCK if he's the fresher fighter if he's still getting outstruck.

The shame of it is that the commentary crew's incompetence took the heat off the judging incompetence. They should have understood that Jones was in a do or die situation and needed a finish. And they should have called out the absolute robbery that this decision was.

Great fight either way, and now there are 2 serious dudes who will beat jones 2nd time round
Reyes could beat him the 2nd time, but he needs seasoning, Cockadoodle. Jon is cerebral as it is, and twice that in rematches. You bet your ass he will be all over Reyes from the word go and make him defend TDs, because it seemed this drained the batteries of Reyes even more than his constant movement. I would like to see Reyes fight some two times more and at least one of them in a main event to test his cardio.

I'd like to see Corey Anderson vs Jones next. He is a very good wrestler, good athlete, good size, doesn't get tired. And he had a big win recently. I would favour Jon, but at this point every decent LHW who are not overmatched physically has a chance, isn't it?

You get so fucking butthurt when someone disagrees w you. You’re the one claiming existence of corruption, so you bear the burden of proof. If two fights from 20 years ago are your best evidence of Jones/Reyes being a work, then idk what to tell you. Sure top down corruption is theoretically possible and there are historical examples. But isn’t purely incapable judging at least as likely as vast conspiracy?

That's probably going to be Jone's next opponent after Corey puts on a clinic on legendary polish power blach next week.

Nah, I just get annoyed at idiots talking out of their asses and autistically insisting they're correct, all while avoiding a factual discussion (which would actually be interesting and edifying).

But I've wasted enough time trying to convince a literal rock. Do you think the Easter Bunny is real, by chance?

I come across as a dumb child? Fuck. And you know the sport way better than me? Dang. You’ve given me a lot think about, Paul.
