Whose music would you save?

Prince deserves a lot of cred for being a multi-instrumentalist virtuoso.

There really is no comparison.

When I was younger I dug MJ more but nowadays I think that Prince was more talented

As much as I like Prince more (no homo), MJ would slaughter him in terms of making better songs. MJ has some insanely catchy songs.

Prince though plays instruments better and seems to be an all around better musician.

Both are naturally gifted though when it comes to music. I was hoping these two became buddies.

LOL at that suggesting Prince was in any way humble.

I think the guy that made it was comparing Prince to MJ. And well neither were all that humble.

Prince is undeniably a multi-talented musician, but I never did get the big deal about his actual music.

Off The Wall puts Michael above Prince. Such a great record. Other than that its pretty much a dead heat, with Prince getting the slight edge cause of his virtuoso skills and writing/producing work for other artists:

Love thy will be done, Martika
Nothing Compares 2 u, Sinead O'conner
Glamorous Life, Sheila E.
Manic Monday, The Bangles
Nasty Girl, Vanity 6
... and i'm probably missing a few

His catalog is fucking sick

Prince was a lot more talented musically.

MJ had the better single album n maybe the greatest single pop album ever in Thriller.

MJ was the better performer IMO

Personally I would choose Prince.

different strokes for different folks. Prince is the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson is the Beatles.

when doves cry. this was the kind of song where you went what the hell? like when guns n roses welcome to the jungle came out. like when you heard nirvana for the first time

this album has a ton of hits, lets go crazy, purple rain, i would die for you, hell even take me with you, darling niki (cuz it was naughty).

then comes raspberry beret, and after that, i feel he dropped off. yeah i did like sign o' the times and even bouhgt the cassingle for alphabet street. the batman album is pretty funky - the first cd i ever bought. (if a man can be considered guilty for what goes on in his mind give me the electric chair for all my future crimes)

Prince was the better musician by a landslide. Michael wrote maybe 2-3 songs on each album. Prince wrote his songs, and other peoples songs, and threw in playing songs from others once in a while just to be fun. Both great performers. Michael might have a couple more songs at the very top for me, but Prince has way more in the middle and less at the bottom.

In conclusion, it's whoever you like more.

If you take your opinion and make it exactly the opposite, TS, you have my opinion.

No doubt MJ was very talented, but not my cup of tea. Prince was an outstanding all-around musician, not just a singer. He wins it by a mile for me.

Prince for me.

It's always a good time on the dance floor with Prince.

Plus, he gets the girlies' panties wet.

MJ is for the whole family. Prince is for the grown and sexy. If we're strictly talking about music here.

I don't know which one is more of a musical genius though. MJ understood music. Could break down keys and beats and sounds and tell a trained musician where they were messing up. Prince knew all of that too, but he knew how to play the instruments...like all of them. He also wrote a lot of music for other artists that turned into hits.

This is kind of a landslide victory for MJ for me. I tried to get into Prince's music several times but I can't. Honestly I don't know how he got so successful in the 80's as I only like a couple of his 90's songs and not even too much.

Michael on the other hand, has a bunch of songs in different eras of his career that I really like.

MJ

This thread deserves a poll.

I mean Sign O' The Times and Purple Rain are better than anything MJ has ever done. It's really no comparison for me. Prince all day.
