31 years ago today, October 1, 1989, The Destruction Crew (Wayne Bloom and Mike Enos) won a 4 team tournament to become the AWA World Tag Champs At the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minnesota.
The other teams in the tournament were Baron Von Raschke & Sgt. Slaughter, Greg Gagne & Paul Diamond and Mike George & Johnnie Stewart
They would hold the belts for 10 months before losing them to DJ Peterson and the Trooper who would be the final AWA Tag champs.
Enos and Bloom were voted PWI's Co-Rookies of the year
While still holding the AWA tag straps they would also wrestle under masks in WCW as the Minnesota Wrecking Crew II before finally moving to the WWF to become the Beverly Brothers.
