Xbox Official Xbox Series X thread

Seems like a wasted opportunity not having a screen you can stream Xcloud onto. I know it’s supposed to look like a series x but they could’ve made a slide cover to go over it.

I haven't seen anything about this game but with these images it reminds me of the original Prey. I haven't been a fan of FPS games for a long time but I'm keeping my eye on this one.

Prey was soooo good. The main hero was a smidge bit whiney for me but other than that, it was amazing for me.

When you zoomed in with one of the guns and the eyeball from the gun would connect to your eyes I was fucking blown away

Was Gears 5 any good? I thought GoW 3 was maybe the best console shooter ever, but I didn't really care for 4.

I haven't played the campaign yet, wanted to wait for the new consoles since it will be 60fps. It's supposed to be open world in some parts which I guess is new to a Gears game. PVP and Horde mode wasn't anything special, they're alright.

I didn't care for 4 either. Gears has definitely died down and they should try something new. I guess that would be Tactics but that's not really my thing.

So how does the buying a Series X through the payment plan thing work? Is that offered by any retailers like Best Buy, GameStop etc or is it from Microsoft directly? And is offered outside the US anywhere (ie Canada)?

*Edit*
The above breaks down how the program works. In Canada, apparently this plan is exclusively offered through EB Games (via RBC Bank as the creditor):
https://www.cgmagonline.com/2020/10/05/xbox-all-access-financing-becomes-available-in-canada/
Microsoft’s Xbox All Access financing program for Xbox consoles is now officially live in Canada, allowing gamers to pre-order either an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console with 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at a discounted price. Previously unavailable in in Canada, the program will be offered exclusively through EB Games Canada (via RBC Bank).

EB Games ( Canadas Gamestop) is the only retailer offering the payment plan. I wonder if this has to do with their recent partnership as well.

Translation: "Nintendo came out of nowhere and murked us in sales with a console available for half the time. So...yeah, we got greedy with the attempt to make everything about online MP monetizing DLC and microtransactions in games whose players play the games like 50+ hours a month. Turns out that's a very limited user base outside crappy phone games! Who knew. Okay, so we get it, people still like exploring and experiencing imaginative worlds individually as a personal retreat. We'll give you more of that."

Just another sign Phil Spencer has a better grip on where gaming is headed than any other executive in the game.

I bet Microsoft also tries to bite into Nintendo's stranglehold on the family friendly market. Parents really like services like Disney+ where they can just leave their kids alone, with an endless queue pumping out the next video immediately before the kid's attention is lost, and know that no inappropriate content is going to slip through the cracks. Nintendo devoured that market. First sign of this would be if they start devoting significantly more of their promotional budget towards marketing the lockdown mode that already exists to parents. So far parental control has been in the backseat. Both Microsoft and Sony still seem to be fighting over the older crowd, not the kids.

So, like Sony and Nintendo have been doing for the past 7 years with God of War, TLOU series, Zelda etc etc ?
