For some reason I thought he was older than he actually was. I was surprised to read he was only 60, I would have thought he was closer to 70.

Another great play by Diego was in 1990 WC against Brazil, similar to the England play he takes the ball behind midfield and takes on 6 brazilian players but this time passes the ball to a open FW as they try to mob him for the game winner .
He made it all the way to 60–another testament to his greatness.I always felt like Maradona would die early.

RIP, a true artist on the pitch. Always thought this picture summed him up as a player
In some ways the 1990 World Cup, where he lost is Maradonas greater achievement than the 1986 World Cup that he won.
In 86 Argentina were an great side with quality over the park but in 90 the team was weak. It was like Diego took 10 Sherdoggers to the World Cup final.
And I'm talking Maybury here, not the heavies.
LOL
If he won in 1990, he'd have solidified the GOAT title for ever and ever. The team was crap and Maradona himself was well past his prime AND he was injured. His ankle was all messed up and he couldn't really run. Despite that, he managed to lead a shit team to eliminate the vastly superior Brazil and Italy.
If he took the also vastly superior West Germany to PKs, they win.
TBF Goycochea was a wizard in penalty kicks in 1990.
