Is the Reem gonna get another titleshot?

He may get a shot. 3 straight at HW is about all you can ask for, and he's a big name.

If Nganou is champ it may be a tough sell just because their first fight ended so dramatically and in about 90 seconds.
 
Isn't it kind of amazing that Overeem started his career in 1998 when say Conor* was still a child (9 year old? 10 year old?) , went on to suffer 17 brutal KOs , but still can be considered into title picture in the most prestigious org. In the meantime Conor started his career & already reached to a point when many consider him washed up.

Who would have guessed that in 2021 Overeem would be more relevant (title picture wise) compared to some fighters who began their career well after 2010? may be.
Mind boggling.

Stipe hasn't "turned down" anyone while being champ. He's fought whomever the UFC has set him to fight. The gaps between his defenses have been anywhere from 4 to 8 months, not an unreasonable rate, with the sole exception of the last one—which was delayed because of the kind of injury you don't rush back from unless you want to go blind in one eye and end your career for good. "Ruining the division" my arse.
 
I hope so, its one of the VERRRRY few fights I'd pay to see these days.

I'm pushing almost 20 years of getting every.single.Overeem fight called wrong. And to make matters worse, I used to hate him and now quite like him, but that didn't change my luck guessing his fights whatsoever.

Unfortunately the Jackoff State Athletic Commission Guys wouldn’t let him Horse it up, evidently Jones was the only fighter sanctioned to Juice.


I was about 100% sure this guy would’ve ran the table to a UFC Title...

Damn I miss Prime UbeReem, his approach of only needing 2 rounds of cardio because he would walk through guys by kneeing them into the Netherealm.

Despite my horrible track record calling Overeem fights, I'm *really* confident that Volkov won't prove a problem for him.
 
I hope he gets one more crack but it looks like if it happens, it won't be until the end of the year at the earliest. They are already giving Jones an instant title shot which will probably be in the Summer.
 
Yeah, I agree that even though he would be on a 4 fight streak with a win in Feb that there are other clear contenders in line. I figure he'd need one more win after Volkov and he could get a TS by 43 years old. Which is old. But I don't think its impossible. I think he'll get one more shot.

If there's any division where doing that at that age is possible, it's obviously at heavyweight.
 
I would love to see the reem get the belt before hanging it up. Probably the most skilled HW ever.
 
Honestly Overeem is probably the most skilled fighter in the division. But he just doesn't have durability
 
I don't think he'll get past Volkov. Maybe with a grappling heavy game plan but Volkov showed improving grappling defence in his last fights. I think Volkov's very underrated and on his way to be a serious title contender in a couple of fights.
 
I want him to go to Bellator, drop to LHW and fight Mousasi to find out who the best Dutch mma fighter is.
 
Overeem retiring with the belt would be magical. I don't see how it could happen, but who knows. Maybe Jones can beat Ngannou or Stipe, and maybe Overeem can beat Jones...I dunno. I'm not sure he's gone beat Volkov though.
