UFC FN 185 PBP/Discussion

I think blaydes could have easily won with leg kicks and jabs. Going for takedowns was a mistake those were the only times lewis countered Blaydes. But Blaydes is strategically not good, he never adjusts in-fight.

I mean I'm happy for BB, but I did not fucking see that happening.

I didn't even play him at his KO odds of +425 because I didn't think he wins by KO as often as indicated despite being +425.

I kept saying all week I'm going to throw money on BB if I'm up for the night, which I was, and then I saw Blaydes sub +900 and thought it had more value.

Guess not. I look for value all the time, and can usually find it a lot of the time.

Solid card. Only disappointment was Rosa and imavov
I was loving Rosa fight. Was excited for it all week and it delivered. Im a jits guy so love me some scrambles plus I have a soft spot for Minner

Getting burned on the o1.5 really sucked. Of course it's heavyweight and one punch is all it takes, but the pace of the fight was going about is perfectly as it could've been until the KO. If Blaydes had gotten that damn takedown I would've cashed it lol. Oh well.

damn was up 7u during prelims but had a lot riding on blaydes and was too cocky to hedge on lewis cause i think he's so shit, paid dearly for that down a lot now
Kamais, my biggest singe loss in betting was a 1000$ straight bet on Roy Nelson to beat Derrick Lewis! Fuuuuck me... Lewis is such a sneaky son of a bitch. I was so mad at myself to underestimate this guy that rewatched all of his previous fights, also watched a lot of his interviews and interviews with his coach Bob Perez (Derrick is with him from the very beginning!).
I've wrote some time back post about the low quality of HW division and the hidden genius of BB:
...Derrick Lewis, of all people was able to reach the top of the division and fight for the title, just because he did so little in his fights that he could not possibly have the opportunity to make something stupid. Just stay safe and wait for the other guy to make something dumb is legit strategy @ HW because they all make dumb things all the time. Say what you want, but he was deserving challenger. What does that say for heavyweights?
He did it again! The mofo did it again! Fuck.

Little off topic, but it seems the secret to beat Derrick is to be comfortable in the pocket. It's obvious he is OK to be wrestlefucked. He does jack shit and you are the one who's getting tired trying to control this giant man. He waits and waits and waits and when there is a sliver of opportunity (and there always will be, it's HW they all make bone headed decisions at least once per round) he takes it!

IMO, Rosa has an incredibly overrated ground game. I think this is largely due to his sub over Bermudez which I really don't think he gets without using his toes in the cage. His sub defense is excellent, but his positional grappling is lacking big time. I also don't think he's very good offensively on the ground. He spams like crazy looking for subs that aren't there. It gives an illusion that he's making actual sub attempt, but I don't even count those as sub attempts. He's just fishing for a sub.

Im disappointed Rosa didn't look better against minner.
