Xbox HALO INFINITE discussion thread

You're only off by about a decade..

<36>

Halo 3 which was the peak of the series.. released in 2007. Goldeneye 1997..

Halo Reach, which was very well regarded, released in 2010.

Anyway, have you not noticed that a new Fable is being developed..?

I think you entirely missed my point. The first halo came out on 2001 and goldeneye was still the best multiplayer FPS at that time. They had a good 8-10 year run of being relevant. The game just didn’t adapt with the times and update things. Microsoft is like the ghost of Christmas past with no sense of the gaming pulse.

The problem with “new fable” is you can’t expect your fans to come back after you dumped a series for this long. As someone who was a big fan of fable previously you really have to show me something great at this point to being me back to buying your products.

Maybe it's just me, but the Halo universe is getting boring to look at. If people were in the dark about a new game, and you them told those were screenshots from an upcoming Halo 1 remake, I doubt you'd get many arguments.
I think that's what they're going for.. a vastly expanded take on "classic Halo".

Here are lossless PNG files. It doesn't make a huge difference, but bear in mind looking at JPG/JPEG screenshots will always be like watching a YouTube video or a Twitch stream. It's not what the game looks like on your monitor (assuming your rig can run it smoothly at the highest settings):

Maybe the most ambitious addition they showed off was a new time-lapse lighting system. The light changes throughout the day across the world.

And that made me wonder, does the Master Chief Collection run on the XBX to the same resolution and framerate it did on XB1? And if so, has there been any word if there'll be an update?
No. The Halo: Master Chief Collection is optimized specifically for the Xbox Series X/S. It runs at 4K and 120fps. It's also a "Smart Delivery" title, so the upgrade to this optimized version is free if you already own it on the Xbox One:

It offers multiplayer cross-play between Xbox & PC if you desire:

FYI, 343 Industries has been putting serious work into the first two Halo games for the MCC to improve the original 2003 Gearbox port. They've made great strides in delivering the true excellence of that original Xbox game with the icing on the cake being you also enjoy the modern advances of the aforementioned higher resolutions & framerate.

Multiplayer on Halo Infinite will be free just like multiplayer for free-to-play titles. A sweet bonus for those who don't subscribe to Xbox Live or Game Pass Ultimate.

Full match of 4 v 4, running on series x.

Looks fucking awesome.

Pistol reloads faster than ever, and I like that they've re-shortened the recharge time on the shield, at least here in Slayer on this smaller map, to encourage higher activity and more aggressive gameplay. It would screw with one's sense of timing, but I actually wouldn't mind there being a difference in recharge times for shields based on the map and total player type.

Love the visual indicator that someone is holding a special power, too. That's a phenomenal improvement on those original Halo 3 mechanics.
