Bellator 256 Bader vs Machida Draws 103k viewers

In Europe, the NFL is only big in countries that were occupied by the Americans after WW2, it's smaller than MMA pretty much everywhere else. I literally can't name any other quarterback in NFL history than Tom Brady (I even thought that OJ Simpson was a quaterback until I checked five seconds ago).
Na this has nothing to do with American occupation at all. Its a rather new phenomenon in Germany (past 8 years or so). A lot of people (including myself) dont care about it at all, but there is a growing number of fans for sure.

It's got a cult following in the UK too, it's quite niche but it seems to have a dedicated following for those who follow it.

American football in Europe is absolutely dominated by Germany and Austria, while most other countries don't care at all about it and are into rugby instead. I can't believe that it is random.

Do many countries outside the six nations in Europe really care about rugby either?

Central and Eastern Europe probably don't care about either and focus on football/soccer.

NFL is reasonably popular in the UK too btw, maybe it's just in France that people don't care.

It is? I have been to many European countries (including all the ones that have been mentioned) and I don't remember ever seeing an American football field or an ad for an American football game (outside the Superbowl). People wearing/selling American football jerseys also seems extremely rare to me.

Nobody plays it, but it's fairly popular as a spectator sport. Popular enough that the NFL have games at Wembley every year.

Propably because there was no Rugby. But both Germany and Austria were occupied not only by Americans but also Brits, French and Sowjets.
As far as im concerned NFL fandom is more a thing of modern american-fetishism than historically grown.
Like i said its mainly Young people following it, not people influenced by presence of American soldiers.

I guess that's the weird thing I don't understand.
The NFL also plays some of there Games in london apperently, so i guess there is some interrest in Britain aswell. Why is beyond me tho. Rugby is far more interesting and culturally rooted there.

The UK has a weirdly open sports culture. We'll follow just about anything. Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket, Golf, Tennis, Darts, Basketball, NFL, Boxing, F1, Horse Racing, Snooker are all very popular here.

The big test case for how they can do early on Showtime, is going to be the Rumble/Romero card. If you're going to bring in the average UFC fan, that's the best bet.

Generally while these ratings are not good, people seriously need to re-calibrate their idea of success for Bellator on Showtime. They are not going to do Strikeforce ratings, because it's not 2010 anymore and the television landscape has changed. Netflix launched their streaming service in 2007, 14 years on, every media company including Showtime has it's own and broadcast television is dying. If Bellator can average in the high 200,000 to low 300,000 on Showtime, that would be a big success.

I dont know the exact numbers but like i said here in germany you can even watch gsmes of NFL in free TV. And a lot of Younger people do.
I asked you something.Do they tell NFL scores for regular season daily in sport block of main news on TV? I am 99 percent sure that not. Here we also have NFL, NBA, NHL live games. Historically NBA and NHL are much more popular then NFL. It is still niche in Europe regardless you and few friends watch it on TV. Fuking darts are more popular in Europe then NFL.

I'm not sure what Showtime expectations were, but common sense would seem to think they should be higher and especially done better in the key demographic. It's pretty sad when Reelz rerun a COPS show did better repeatedly that week. I bet 95% of you don't even know what channel Reelz is on or have even ever watched it. FYI, it's usually buried somewhere in your cable package. It is never located in the prime first 40 channels or so.

Personally, I would think 250K to 350K would be realistic expectations with peak on top matchups being 500K in 2021.

Also don't forget what we are talking about here, running Bellator is not cheap. Cheap in the world of sports but from a programming standpoint it's expensive 2 to 3 hour time slot that needs to perform on some level. Doing a 100K to 200K is probably not going to be tolerated long term. On a platform like Showtime its telling you your own subscribers aren't tuning in and if they aren't, they can't be attracting very many new subscribers also. Which the later is main point of Showtime programming for all else.

Machida is a bigger draw than Rumble or Romero. Arguably so is bader if not atleast equal to them.
