I'm tempted to lament that the CDC is dividing their attention away from an actual pandemic in this country. The more I think of it though, I'm not sure anyone would notice much if the CDC never addressed Covid again. If they now want to go fail at something else for a while, what is the difference really? As an institution, they are politically compromised and largely ignored at this point (except if a governor needs a data point to support something they were always going to do anyway).
