I always thought this was a super fuckin' weird scene.

Timestamped (or go to 1:35)

Your thoughts?

I think it was supposed to be a Chelsea smile but not sure either

It's such a weird fuckin edit and dumb sound effect. I bet the footage they got for the actual kill sucked so they had to do that funky edit. Nolan was still learning how to do a lot of this stuff back in '08.

Gotta remember we aren't even a decade removed from Memento when he made this. That's a pretty fuckin' big leap in scale.

I always figured he also just slipped on this thing.

maybe the knife was held to the neck but the angle made it look like the cheek?

Fast acting poison on the knife. He was already dead during the speech.

Nolan's a GOAT-level director, but he can't do fight scenes.

He's not that great in hand to hand combat (decent) but he's good at directing action scenes.

Batman vs Bane (TDKR)

Police vs Batman (TDKR)

Bank Heist (TDK)

Chase tunnel scene (TDK)

Train fight (Begins)

Hallway fight (Inception)

Opening scene (Inception)

Snow scene (creative and interesting)

And also he's got some good scenes in Tenet, the one where the protagonist fights himself and the opening one.

So while he's not as good as someone like Cameron or Mann, who are primarily action directors, he's still fairly above average in this category.

The Batman vs Bane fights were embarrassing. Two of the deadliest hand to hand fighters in their world, throwing sloppy haymakers like a couple of drunks brawling on a Saturday night:rolleyes:

And that's not even mentioning that the second fight happens when heavily armed cops and terrorists decide to beat each other to death instead of using their guns.

Lol no. The first one was amazing.

The monologue and the impact of the fight itself was so great, so was the soundtrack at the end.. really tense.

Yeah, that wasn't that great of an action scene but...it was to avoid an R rating (they changed two scenes iirc).

There were a lot of cops with body armour and clubs, but some had no guns versus Bane's army.

So they did have to get so close so fast that they overwhelmed Bane's army by going hand to hand or "stealing" the weapons.

Rises is one of my favorite films from him.

Anyways, he has directed a lot of action scenes that were good.

Bane literally used the Nelson Munce technique on Batman,

It's a nod to Knightfall.

I was referring to Bane catching Batman's fist and then hitting him with it. Not the clean and back-breaker, which I admit was actually pretty cool.

My rankings,

1)The Dark Knight

2)Batman Begins

3)The Dark Knight Rises

Same for me. But I liked Rises a lot

But did you watch any of the others, (Inception, dunkirk, tenet, interstellar) ?
