I always thought this was a super fuckin' weird scene.

I think it was supposed to be a Chelsea smile but not sure either
Wouldn't fall over dead like that from getting his cheeks slashed would he?
I always figured he also just slipped on this thing.

Nolan's a GOAT-level director, but he can't do fight scenes.
You might pass out but I doubt that you would die from just getting your face cut up.Wouldn't fall over dead like that from getting his cheeks slashed would he?
He's not that great in hand to hand combat (decent) but he's good at directing action scenes.
Batman vs Bane (TDKR)
Bank Heist (TDK)
Chase tunnel scene (TDK)
Train fight (Begins)
Hallway fight (Inception)
Opening scene (Inception)
Snow scene (creative and interesting)
And also he's got some good scenes in Tenet, the one where the protagonist fights himself and the opening one.
So while he's not as good as someone like Cameron or Mann, who are primarily action directors, he's still fairly above average in this category.

As for the thread question
The Batman vs Bane fights were embarrassing. Two of the deadliest hand to hand fighters in their world, throwing sloppy haymakers like a couple of drunks brawling on a Saturday night
And that's not even mentioning that the second fight happens when heavily armed cops and terrorists decide to beat each other to death instead of using their guns.
Lol no. The first one was amazing.
The monologue and the impact of the fight itself was so great, so was the soundtrack at the end.. really tense.
Yeah, that wasn't that great of an action scene but...it was to avoid an R rating (they changed two scenes iirc).
There were a lot of cops with body armour and clubs, but some had no guns versus Bane's army.
So they did have to get so close so fast that they overwhelmed Bane's army by going hand to hand or "stealing" the weapons.
Rises is one of my favorite films from him.
Anyways, he has directed a lot of action scenes that were good.
It's a nod to Knightfall.
I was referring to Bane catching Batman's fist and then hitting him with it. Not the clean and back-breaker, which I admit was actually pretty cool.
My rankings,
1)The Dark Knight
2)Batman Begins
3)The Dark Knight Rises
