Olympics Megathread

No.

This appears to be a more common and understandable example of someone "adopting" a foreign country (usually in which they already possess a citizenship). It's highly common for Americans.

Sounds exactly the same as the "Swedish" guy you posted as his mother is Swedish and has that citizenship. Sound more like its Ok if americans do it , but very bad if other countrys does it.

Except we didn't.

If he had moved to Sweden, trained in Sweden, and went back to Sweden after these Games for the rest of his life, I wouldn't be bothered by it. He'll be partying in New Orleans before the end of this month because why would anyone want to live in a European shithole when you won the living lottery of being born with a US citizenship? Proof is in the pudding.

Seems like he does live in Sweden.

"Duplantis believes he made the right choice. He lives in Sweden now, which makes it easier to compete at European meets. He receives financial and fan support from Sweden that he would not in the United States. “I love being a Sweden athlete,” he said."

They do it because they don't cut it. They couldn't make the American team in their sport, but they want to be an Olympian, so they go and represent another country. They get to live the Olympic dream.

Because Team USA isn't at the Olympics in soccer. We suck. This can isn't winning us an medals or World Cups. We gain nothing by Dutch dregs.

So it's we lose some, we lose some.

This doesn't really make sense with regards to your earlier post though, considering he won gold

Cajuns are really just French people anyway.

Team USA has always relied on foreign athletes for golds:
  • Patrick Ewing
  • Hakeem
  • Sanya Richards-Ross
  • Carlos Boozer
  • Kerron Clement
  • Kyrie

Tim Duncan.

Steve Hegg (closer to my era).

Maroulis is a beast to be out there after getting destroyed by concussions these last couple years. Next match is gonna be rough though.

Tough lost for USA in men's water polo. Great first half. Second half saw them making some amateur mistakes. Too many turnovers and penalty shots.

I was having this discussion the other day, and Dake should win, DT should win, Gable definitely has a shot. The problem is Akgul and Geno are monsters. We should have 2 medals, a good shot at 3. But I think Stevenson or Snyder can do it. We can get 4 in mens and I'd go wrestle my neighbors walking their dogs if we did. Really excited.

Gilman should’ve had that. Hopefully he can take bronze at least.

LMAO at quoting a Kenny Powers line to try and gain cool points.

Must be someone who glorifies running

This is the sports bar nerd, take your dive ballin' field faeries to gayberry

Excellent comedy right there.

If Cuddling half naked men to the point of exhaustion is your bag, you go for it, Fabio. It’s 2021 after all.

You have no idea why he has chosen to represent Sweden? It’s clearly not because he couldn’t make the US team is it? Maybe he’s more proud of his Swedish heritage? He does live there after all!

calling Sweden a shithole, compared to America, is one of the stupidest, and most ironic posts I’ve seen in a while. You’ve clearly never been
