Social Army Sergeant becomes 1st Christian soldier to get religious exemption to grow beard

You’d think a commandment would over rule the other stuff. But what do I know
Depends on how people feel like interpreting the religious texts.

Most religious people are pick and choose, where they pick the things they want and ignore the things they dont want.

Problem is there are alot of fucked up things to pick from.

Lettuce be honest, that beard probably hides an extra chin (or two).

As an Army veteran, the daily clean-shaven regulations is probably on my Top #50 Biggest Bullshit aspects about the military, and that list is probably around #300, at least.

The justification for it is... (they say)... is you may need to put on a gas mask at any time but even if your facial hair has grown 24 hours it may not seal correctly around your face and neck.

Excuse me, but that may be 100% fine in a warzone in which the enemy has chemical weapons, but when we're in the USA or an at-peace duty station somewhere else in the world, there's absolutely no reason to be required to shave every goddamn day... other than the higher-ups saying "We had to shave everyday when we were your rank, now you have to shave everyday at your rank. Deal with it."

Its absolute cunts like them that made the Army unbearable.

I saw a couple things like that seems , like killing for the US army would still count as an unjust killing. At least for the time while this neckbeard was alive. But touche’ maybe it’s just murder I’d still consider killing because someone told you to but with no other justification would still be morally wrong, but hey I’m no Peter so I don’t know who they let in the pearly gates.

lol he just wants a beard to cover that fat ugly face of his.

It's always awesome to see someone circumventing the military shave policy. This dude found a way to acquire the mythical no shave chit - a true golden ticket - and that is something I must respect. Godspeed, neckbeard soldier.

A Florida Army sergeant is one of the first known Christian troops to get a religious exemption allowing him to grow out his hair and beard, according to a report.
Sgt. Jacob DiPietro had applied for the religious exemption in November 2019 because he observes the Nazarite vow from the Old Testament that states, “No razor may be used on their head” and which insists believers “must let their hair grow long."

DiPietro said the painful process of getting approval, as well as bullying from other soldiers, has left him determined to quit the service when his contract ends next year.
“There are things that I see and I don’t like … like the way soldiers are treated when they seek an exception to policy while following Army regulation,” he told Task & Purpose.
“If a soldier is following the rules as set by the Army, they should absolutely be free from harassment discrimination.
“I feel like there’s still a culture that is, truthfully, fearful and hating towards that which is different,” he said.

He told others seeking similar exemptions to “not give up” and “stand by your decision”, while insisting it is far too bruising a process to go through for anyone without genuine need.
“If you’re trying to fleece the system because you just don’t want to shave, or you just want to grow your hair out, I’m telling you now: It’s not gonna work,” he told the online publication.

Similar exemptions have previously been made for Sikhs, Muslims and even Norse pagans in the service, but DiPietro is one of the first known Christians to get it, the outlet said.

He's in the Guard so I'm not sure it was worth the effort. All that just to avoid shaving twice a month.
