One Championship: Truly Different?

It's all about money, but it can give space to expand sport. We are wining in both side.

Bunch of local south east asian fighters with no star appeal whatsoever. It's probably only the hardcore that even know Steven De Reidder and Aung La Sang.

Everytime I listen to Bellator critics they all come up with the same retarded answer: Even ONE FC is sooo much better than Bellator. I really really doubt that; with early shows that only appeal to a local audience in a shitty timezone + a bunch of unknowns that couldn't draw flies to a bucket of shit in the west, theres just not anything out there telling me that this is a top tier promotion.

But the UFC fanboys will always cater to this shit promotion since they bought Eddie (a Bellator fighter) and the most boring champ of all time mighty mouse. Give me the name of one guy who they have that are in consideration for the P4P list, the only guy I can come up with is Ben Askren and he again came out of Bellator.

All their local fighters might draw a local crowd, BUT HOW MUCH OF A CROWD ARE YOU GONNA DRAW UNDER COVID 19? I'm glad their retarded tactic of only pulling for local talent is finally biting them in the ass. ONE FC is a promotion that's going down, PFL is soon gonna go past them as a promotion.

I read on one forum about sports the idea to make a channel about training players for people to look like a vlog.
If they don’t already is this something the league’s individual teams should consider putting on their YouTube’s pages? As in their players’ workouts when they hit the team gym?
We should offer them this idea. Let's make a talk show out of EVERYTHING, it's so WICKHED!

Ive seen some right battles on One but some of their commentators ruin it. the Australian guy! wow

As a brazilian fan would say that ONE cannot be the largest organization being based in Asia, the main reason is that big money is in the USA, the time zone does not make an event attractive all over the world at the same time. Like the UFC itself, in Brazil the main fight time is usually after 1:00 am on Sunday, or people are on the street or are sleeping, you need a popular card to hold people until that time.

Either the time of the event is attractive to Asia or the USA, never both.

On the surface, One Championship certainly appears to be the antithesis of the “entertainment” style of MMA. Representing what Sityodtong calls “authentic martial arts,” One has been making a push with the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts to get MMA into the Olympics. One athletes are said to be taken care of by the company, with lightweight legend Eddie Alvarez reporting that he was treated better by One after he lost than when he held the title in the UFC. In the “About Us” section of One Championship’s website, the first thing at the top of the page are the words “Integrity, humility, honor, respect, courage, discipline, compassion” in big, bold letters.

That is a great idea. UFC and the like are driven by the money and entertainment factors. Some fighters need more care than others and its obvious they dont get it in the UFC

one fc vs bellator card would be nice. to bad that wont happen. It would be two companies fighting for second place. not like ufc vs pride

It’s good to see healthy mma organizations growing. A UFC monopoly would ruin the sport as a whole.

How successful is One Championship actually?
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought they were a legit success story, not just something kept afloat on venture capital. In any case, I like that they mix kickboxing in there and I think they deserve a decent US deal. I kinda prefer muay thai with boxing gloves not mma gloves but thats a quibble.

It's a natural thing to say if a competitor wants to challenge the UFC but it's also the kind of crap that I've heard in MMA/Martial Arts for a very long time and it usually means it's inverse. In other words, if words like "integrity", "character" and "honor" start getting thrown around, I usually start looking for the nearest door.

when you say different, is that the similar to when the stripper says I'm not like all the other guys?

If a stripper EVER tells me "I'm not like all the other guys".... I will know that I am not in the right club.

doh.l!

while i definitely do not see one fc taking over the ufc, if/when it does come to the usa, it will undoubtedly put up a bigger threat/competition than you see in other leagues of sports such as nfl/mlb/nhl/etc.

Ain't this chatri guy just as bad as dana?
Nevertheless i think they should just focus on asia, but idk how well the money flows
The time of the events are shit, here in brazil por example its early morning, in the US its probably at dawn
They have a great roster of kickboxers in FW, and muay thai with mma gloves is sick but as far as mma goes idk if this can work
