Bellator 266: Davis vs Romero

I'm glad Careto's seeing the same thing I am on Neal, though I do agree with Snake on the level of competition side of things, Tyree Fortune isn't great.

The one area of grappling I'm not loving in this fight is if Neal gets the takedown and I think he will, if he gets overly aggressive on trying to improve his position (back takes specifically) I think he's going to get himself into trouble. I could see Polizzi reversing him there and ending up on top, and I think Maurice Jackson may have managed to do that to Neal briefly. Fingers crossed he keeps it safe, push him up against the cage when he's on his back, pound on him, make him uncomfortable.

Bit of value on Polizzi in my opinion. Taped all of Neals career waiting to be impressed due to his odds. Dude is still very green, doesn't warrant that price tag. He has a speed and athletism advantage but both are small LHW's. Neal always comes under, not by a lot but neither does Polizzi and he was right on 205 last fight. Neals second last opponent spent the majority of his career at WW, the last few at MW and his only LHW fight being against Neal. Neal was losing top control and struggling to keep this tiny dude down.

Massive gap in competition lvl, I was impressed with Polizzi getting on a few singles against that giant Julious. He will keep coming and is durable. How is Neal going to handle being on the bottom, we haven't seen it yet. Polizzi is hard to control and has a funky scrambling game attacking for legs. Most likely we get a 3 round grappling fight with a ton of momentum switches and a close decision. Polizzi gets the fight he wants as a massive dog against an unproven fighter.

Yea I’m riding w Phil Davis here. It’s going to be incredibly boring but I think Davis controls the fights gets some takedowns and is the more active fighter.

Holy shit. I just placed a very sizable bet on that. I just thought it was going to be at least -300.

Crazier things have happened in the sport but Davis has never been finished and I don't even remember him being hurt (people thought that Nemkov knocked him down but I didn't see it).
Romero is really tentative and I think this fight will be a staring contest with some point fighting from Davis and a couple of scary flurries by Romero.
Draw draw draw. Worth a stab.

Also on Davis. He's sound defensevely, throws a lot of kocka,Romero is low volume, everything has already actually been said.Romero ain't gonna win unless he gets a KO on one of his explosions but that's a calculated risk. And Davis decision is the way since he hardly takes Romero out.

Davis is defensevely sound but it´s almost like he fights scared

rhalan gracie is so dog shit and hasn't fought since 2007, surprised keefe is under -200. His wrestling should be good enough to keep it on the feet and the standup shouldn't be close.

Davis has been involved in some close decisions and has not been that lucky with the judges. I could see Romero snatching a close one by winning a few big moments. That is if he willing to make those moments happen.

How do you know he's dog poo if he hasn't fought since 2007?

I mean, you don't get better by not fighting lol. 14 years ago he was 0-2 and now he's 34y old. Obviously he has bjj going for him and teaching bjj classes is what he's been up to, but I don't think at this point it's reasonable to expect that he's suddenly some complete mma fighter. Keefe is training with some of the best guys in the world at AKA, has a wrestling background and his striking is undoubtedly better. Seems like a rough matchup to return to for Gracie tbh.

Thinking about putting a MASSIVE bet on Romero to lose. . .

I have no idea what he´s been doing but 15 years is a long time so this could be a different fighter.

we have no idea what version shows up, he could even be worse then before or maybe he trained his striking or wrestling for 15 years.

Yeah, that's kind of how I see it. I think Jamal Pogues and even a past prime Carvalho are comfortably more challenging than anyone Neal has been in with.

Phil by submission is +1600...... I missed out on Brunson sub line but I'm taking this one. Phil has been KOing ppl recently and hasn't subbed anyone in years but he has a shot here

You'll have to sell me on that one. Has Yoel ever been close to being subbed?
