I actually looked up several of the books being given as examples, and they're being grossly misrepresented. Any book that presents a kid struggling with sexuality or identity as human is considered unacceptable in K12, and it's presented as porn. They don't want these kids to feel normal, they want them to feel shame and disgust with themselves.
Matt Walsh's "Walrus" book straight up tells kids that anyone struggling with identity is straight up broken, and considering how easily people on this forum call them mentally ill it's obvious how common this attitude is. Ben Shapiro has repeatedly said that accepting kids in that position is going to drive up suicide rates, which is a completely insane take. I don't know about you, but relieving stress in my life doesn't make me suicidal. The world telling me I'm a mentally ill freak, on the other hand, probably would.
