I’m planning on starting to learn grappling soon, but I would greatly prefer to keep my ears as they are. I’ve seen different products online like ear molds and magnets that compress your ears after you drain them. I’m thinking about trying these.

Have any of you guys tried gear for cauliflower ear prevention? If so what have you tried, and how well did it work?

Best way to prevent cauliflower is with headgear. That's why its required in scholastic wrestling. I have Cliff Keen Fusions:

Between wrestling, Judo and BJJ I have probably 13 or 14 years on the mats and didn't get it until training BJJ much later in life. I drained it several times and tried the magnets but those didn't work for me. Cauliflower hardens into a lump that's much smaller than the original swelling. In general, cauliflower doesn't happen from just one impact or abrasion, but repeated impact on the same area - I got it from the same guy going for broke on guillotine chokes on me 2 or 3 practices in a row. But you'll feel a hot spot (irritation) coming on before it actually swells up. If you want to avoid cauliflower, just put on headgear as soon as you feel irritation on your ear and it will heal up in a week or two and you can go back to training without the headgear until you get another hot spot.
