Nice. Whipping Post became such a popular live song that people would request it at Allman Bros concerts. Some funny guys took it further and would request it at every show from every band they saw. The legend goes that some bands had to delete their loud requests from concert albums. Imagine you're listening to a live Bob Seger or Humble Pie record and these Cheech & Chong type stoners keep yelling for "Whiiiippppiiing Poooooost!"

Same is true for free bird.
Saw Chris Cornell acoustic -somebody yells freebird. Cornell says every city some guy yells freebird, each one thinking he’s doing something unique.

Lol. In our area at all the shows it was "Play some Skynyrd!!"
In the mid to late 90s, the New York /New Jersey equivalent of this was this - at every metal show, if the opening band was not well received, a bunch of people would start chanting "Slayer, Slayer". But since it was NY/NJ, it sounded more like "Slayuh, Slayuh". The first time I saw In Flames (around 1999-2000), they were hip to this trend and actually soundchecked with "Raining Blood" to get ahead of the chant.

Lmao. My band used to open with Raining Blood and about half way through the song we would switch to our stuff. Just old school Hardcore. It was always funny as hell
