It looks like there are good BJJ training options in Kyiv despite the war going on. Blackz, ZR Team and others. This is from searching online. Is that the case in reality?
I always hoped to train some Sambo when travelling in Eastern Europe but I get the feeling Sambo is less popular now as a Soviet sport while BJJ is more international/western?

Looking for gyms in central Kyiv when visiting for BJJ but if anyone has up to date information, any training available will interest me.

Thanks.

I'd just go to Bulgaria and hit up Ivanov, he's an f12 poster and a fantastic coach.

Much love to the people of Ukraine now and in perpetuity but I wouldn't go there now unless I was signing up to fight.

You're visiting a war zone for BJJ training....!?!?!

Not right this moment, hopefully sometime soon when things are safer and the Russians go home.
Kyiv appears to be relatively safe compared to a lot of places.

I was born in Kiev
Its decidedly not safe and the Russians aren't going home (unless you define "home" as Donetsk / Luhansk / etc.)

Ivanov is cool and Bulgaria is safe and with better climate than Kiev or even Crimea...

Kiev safe now?
Dear God.....missiles and air raid alerts ... damn....

+ cos today is war in Ukr I suspect that real costs of living in Bulgaria will be lower than in Kiev....

Sorry...
I don't know ukrainian language and usually I use names for Ukr cities like they were in USSR times...
Kiev, Lvov, Harkov etc...

You and about 80% of that country....

Ukraine has strong Wrestling teams. Pankration, grappling and Olympic styles. Not the stupid sambo

Why are you going to Kiev if not for military or humanitarian reasons? Ukraine is a warzone, and absolutely not safe.

Somalia is nice this time of year. Pirates Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Mogadishu is always welcoming of Westerners.
After you can supplement with boxing in Culiacan boxing academy
