Sheesh is right

It's a proven fact that having a loyal Sherbro channel you as their AVATAR and never wavering in their belief in you even when the rest of the casuals have written you off will ultimately see you get RESULTS. Just ask @leto1776

Say, that reminds me to do something...

Hopefully some day. Many of us here want it. Meanwhile there's a lot of good atomweight bouts in organizations like ONE FC, Invicta, Bellator and others.

I hope so as well.

As to Dern's striking, she has always had power. Her striking defense and head movement are still waiting to put in an appearance. Also please note that during this fight Angela rarely threw a kick and fought defensively for a good portion of the fight. This opened up Dern's striking far more. When your opponent is constantly worried about the grappling threat it allows a mediocre at best striker to have better success on the feet.

Example: Cain Velasquez. Great wrestling takedowns, strong top control and viscious GNP. He did better striking against fighters who did not want him on top of them (really, can you blame them?). Then he fought Werdum who, when you take him down he adds you to his Christmas card list he is so happy. All of a sudden Cain was not as good on the feet.

The next time Dern fights someone who does not worry about her grappling because she cannot take them down she gets lit the fuck up on the feet.

Pancrase taking it old school:

Raika Emiko (12-9-1) vs NAGI (1-2)

in other jmma news, Shooto started it’s now annual infinity league tournament, with this year featuring strawweights. After the first round this past weekend, Momoka Hoshuyama leads, with Megumi Sugimoto in second. Emi Fujino, who’s fought in Lancrase for years, got a bye in the first event. It’s a round robin format, so everyone fights everyone else once.

Thanks for your observations. Yeah Dern's next few fights should be interesting.

good fight. Sawada is the real deal with her wrestling, but her striking needs work since she was getting uppercut so easily by Lalacios of all people in rd 1

Alex Perreira’s sister has her next fight booked:

For someone with great wrestling Guadalupe Godinez certainly seems to avoid wrestling?

It's the natural evolution of wrestlers: wrestler realizes she can hurt people with her hands, wrestler becomes a boxer and hunts for KOs, wrestler runs into a good striker and gets schooled.

Finally had a sober watch of this past weekend's UFC fights, then went back and watched Natalia Silva's previous fights. Natalia is going on my prospect list. Fundamentals are pretty good, she knows how to defend takedowns and get off the fence, grappling looks decent, and her striking is going to give a lot of opponents problems. Silva knows how to use a jab to set things up, puts together combos where the strikes work together rather than just throwing shit at a wall like far too many fighters, and her kicks are scarily fast. She's also a better than average athlete, her cardio holds up for 3 rounds even if she's grappling hard, strength seems pretty good, and she's significantly faster than most of the fighters in her division. Reminds me a bit of Viviane Araujo, minus the gas tank problems.

So Hackett in PFL then, is this new or have I just managed to not notice before? Seemed to have vanished off the earth fightingwise after the Contender Series attempt.
