Evloev is one fight away from a title shot, a win over someone like Sterling or Ortega should be enough to put him in line behind Volkanovski & Holloway.
That's true but the UFC has to juggle all the different PPV locations & slot in the right championship fights. Gotta think of the whole big picture outside of just one fighter.
Surely it makes a lot more sense to have Pereira vs Ankalaev headline in Abu Dhabi than something like O'Malley vs...
That fight was almost 4 years ago. Cory has put in a lot of work & leveled up a lot since then. He had a lot of success using his wrestling vs Font & Vera in his last 2 fights.
Once again, take a look at the list of upcoming PPV locations and tell me a more likely date you think you'll see Pereira. Ankalaev is suggesting 308 & the earliest Pereira is fighting is 306. Not as extreme as it sounds.

Pretty solid card, I don't think MVP vs Thompson will ever happen though. It would probably just be a boring staring contest / point fight because they are both too in tune with what the other guy does so nobody is going to land anything of impact.
I know Australia & NZ aren't that close but Izzy literally just headlined the last PPV in Australia, and it's very likely he's going to be in the main event of the next PPV there vs DDP.
Hopefully Blaydes gets his opportunity. UFC can't risk wrapping another interim belt around Gane any time soon while Jones is still in the picture, it would be silly as hell lol.
Depends on the outcome of some other fights. I think Strickland & Chimaev would be ahead of him in the title shot queue if they win their fights. Cannonier won't be able to sit on the sidelines for 6+ months waiting for a title shot even if he wins this.
Cannonier is just a guy you want to get...
