I could see how that might make sense to someone who doesn't know how the UFC works. The UFC calls the shots until you're a big star and they need you more than you need them and then at that point, you get to call the shots. Brock, Ronda, Conor, Jones, they all had the same thing in common...
No shit. I wrote that thread as you may know. If you read the embedded article, Dana said Tom couldn't have the Jones fight 'because Jones wants Stipe and Stipe wants Jones'. That's why. Jones is calling the shots and that article proves it.
I think you got it backwards. Jon is telling the UFC who he won't fight. Not the other way around. If Jones wanted to fight Tom, they would announce it the next day
What a joke. This dude needs to be stripped now. I don't remember MMA legend Shogun Rua playing these stupid games when Jon was a young contender. He just fought the next man up with no complaints and no excuses. Jon obviously can't bring himself to do that, he needs to go.
I don't think it makes that much of a difference. If Gane trained a ground game he most likely would've beaten Jones and people would just say see, Jones doesn't work at HW. If Stipe could somehow beat Jones, it will be even more like Jones never belonged at HW because while he choked out a guy...
If he gets his L back against Blaydes, I think that will answer any remaining questions. That and a win over Gane will make him the undisputed champ no matter what Jones does but it's still a lot of ifs
Yep, Jon even said Stipe was the toughest fight he could possibly take and I believe him bro. He said Stipe is so tough and dangerous at this point in his retirement that he needs to take care of that business before he can even think about unifying the belt. I know he would never duck anyone...
Exactly. He's a new generation and the only fighters he can make a name off of won't fight. And it's actually closer to three duckers with Jon, Stipe, and Gane.
You can basically say the same thing about Jones. He's old, fat, inactive, ancient in MMA years and lost his last fight (or two) before he retired. He came out of retirement to fight a guy who hates MMA, only does it for the money, and refuses to train a ground game. Jon's no dummy when it comes...
If Aspinall has to defend his interim title TWICE then at that point he is the undisputed. Dana might try to explain why Jon's still the champ but he's going to look really stupid and no one will buy it.
