Yeah. Like I said... they remind me of the English national football team. They should win a lot, but they don't for whatever reason. Teams like Edmonton have a better excuse because until recently good players would straight up refuse to play there. Or they would have to overpay them to. Or...
Oilers have the opportunity for a pretty good revenge tour.
Vancouver - for the regular season
Vegas - for 2023 and stopping the streak, Avalanche - for 2022 or Dallas - for son'ing them so much during the Modano days.
Carolina - for 2006
I made a post a while back about how the OT loss rule seems to benefit them over other teams. They're a good team, but not really/much better than Toronto.
I never said they folded under pressure. I just said that there was some significant luck involved in their comeback in that game.
It would be like me posting this video and acting like the Oilers didn't need luck to send the game into overtime.
Vancouver didn't entirely find a way to overcome adversity though. They got lucky that their opponent hit the post on an empty netter. As far as the last game when the Oilers were missing McDavid, I didn't watch it, but not that match can be taken from 1 game anyway. I don't think the early...
I think I'm being pretty level headed about it. Canucks beat the early season Oilers and then again when they didn't have McDavid. Canucks can win, but they are the underdogs. Betting odds had Nashville as the 3rd weakest team for a reason and I think they were proven correct.
They were given the 3rd lowest odds to win the cup before the playoffs started. Ahead of only the Islanders and Washington. Marginally behind LA despite LA having a tougher opening round.
The stats you're quoting are only part of a larger picture. LA started the season terribly and Nashville...
I would say it's something like:
Conference SF: Significant favourite (70%)
Conference F (if they make it there): Slight favourite (60%)
Stanley cup finals (if they make it there): Toss up or slight favourite (55%)
They are the betting favourites, but they are still only 3.5:1. It's hockey so...
The Oilers have better defense than they did in the past. Even with the start to the season, they allowed considerably fewer goals than both Colorado and Toronto. Barely more than Dallas and New York. Vancouver is better, but that seems to be their strong point. Vancouver should have been down...
Oilers getting just 13 shots after I was making fun of the Canucks... lol. Actually both teams won those games. Canucks when they were outshot 30-12 and the Oilers who got out shot 33-13.
I'm not sure how you go from 44, 31, and 40 to 13, but thankfully Skinner managed the only shutout of the...
