To me there are some similarities to what topuria was saying about Volk. Of course Volk is a big threat but when you don't have to worry about any overwhelming skill or ko threat, it can make things easier. With that said, Merab is still a tough one to crack as he has well rounded skills...
Thats a bit of a different topic. He may not have had the interest to be the greatest and spend his prime years fighting. If he wanted to be the greatest, he'd need to fight more, and we'd need to see his whole trajectory. If he is happy retired, good for him. He woulnd't make it on my GOAT...
Yea if anything, fighters who leave fights on the table are harder to judge as you don't see the whole picture. I think it hurts Khabib that he walked away so early in terms of legacy. Or maybe it helps if you assume he would have gotten crushed in the next fight or two.
This looks to be one of the maybe 3 cards a year where they actually care to stack it. Nice I'm excited. I can't really do the whole watered down card thing, I'm not that big of a fan anymore but definitely genuinely appreciate the fairly rare stacked card.
To me it seems transparent but I'm surprised to see how sherdoggers uniformly seem like they genuinely don't like him and how he behaves. He seems to be an extremely successful troll.
They want to save that win for Jones, big fight and a lucky fight to get as you can say you beat an ex champ and all. That’s a gift these other guys prob haven’t earned yet.
Free publicity for everyone = more money for him. Lots of people are talking about both fighters and the promotion right now. If it 99 percent doesn't happen, they still get hits and publicity.
It's funny how no one picks up on the same pattern. Sell a fight as a number one contender fight, get the hype. Then change the tune after the fight and they haven't committed to anything. I can't say I'm surprised or anything but it's just funny.
