Like I said, best hands, best fighter. Will be champ for a while. Will clown Ankalaev badly.
Lol @ all you retards saying he has no TD defense because Santos randomly began panic wrestling and caught him off guard. Get a clue
You said "getting finished or not has nothing to do with how good the hands are", it does when you're throwing punches. If you get taken down then obviously not
Yes, Hill got hit tonight in his fight. But he didn't just walk through Santos's shots all night. He got hit occasionally but when you zoom out and look at his career and over skill set, he is a master of inflicting damage in early exchanges without getting hit
Michael Johnson has very good hands. He leaves too many openings defensively and also gasses too much to be in the class of Hill, but he's still very good
Of course getting taken down and TKO/Subed doesn't relate to hands, but "getting caught" obviously does. The good ones don't get caught with...
This should go without saying. Hands are everything related to punches, offensively and defensively. From how you throw your punches, to your set ups, your feints, headmovent, footwork, body positioning, arm stamina, range management, etc.
The closest to him on that list are Poirier and Yan, but Yan is out as he lacks the power (even for his weight class). None of those other names are even close. Truly effective counter punching while remaining solid defensively is a true rarity in MMA. Hill is a master of it.
So you're just talking about offensive damage capability with punches? That's not what hands mean. You can be super aggressive and hit hard but if by doing that you leave yourself open and get KO'd, you don't have good hands. Defense is 100% a part of hands
Because his hands aren't as good? Neal won a close war with Ponzinibbio, lost to Magny, and got smacked around for 5 rounds by Wonderboy. Tonight he KO'd someone with absolutely zero head movement. It was a good showing but there's clearly a huge gap in skill between the 2 as far as hands
He does for sure but part of having great hands is having great defense/durability to go along with your offense. McKinney got finished his last fight. Hill is essentially undefeated in MMA (he never tapped vs Bearjew)
Those hands are fucking incredible. The counters while still maintaining forward pressure. Something to behold. Future champ for sure
People will talk about this fight like it was close but it wasn't. It's hard for a counter striker to KO another counter striker who backs up and doesn't go...
