Boxing sparring partner tried to hurt me with Jiu Jitsu

It doesn't even matter to me if you did "hit him too hard". In a boxing gym, you settle it with boxing - end of discussion. Otherwise, what's to stop you from taking a bat to the back of his head? I'd fuck him up next time and just refuse to spar with him again to get the last laugh. Imagine if...

What's the last thing you think you've really improved and what do you want to improve next

I'm just getting stalled out. I'm constantly fighting to regain position with my hands, and when I do manage to trap one of their arms with my leg, they more often than not manage to free it. I'm not very flexible, so that might have something to do with it. On the plus side, I've gotten quite...

What's the last thing you think you've really improved and what do you want to improve next

Working from the back mount. I find I can almost get the position at will whenever I'm on top now, but I have trouble finishing with the choke. I often end up hitting the armbar instead, but I don't feel like I'm going to improve much in this area unless I start spending some time focused on it.

Most insane training stories you’ve heard?

That will be hard to do on the conveyor belt, but I will try. I bet I'd look totally badass.

Deserves its own thread: AJ’s post-fight freakout

Looks to me like Joshua spat on the belts when he threw them down as well. Disgraceful.

    Luke Rockhold's chin

Luke has been through some wars. His chin has always been good. The shots that finished him could have flatlined almost anybody. He also had some time off which allowed him to recover a bit, but I don't think he ever learned how to utilise his strengths well. He's been in some great fights. I'll...

    Effective Aikido?

What's the point? Boxing and wrestling are already effective. There are good gyms everywhere. I'm always hearing about Aikidoka "modifying" Aikido to be practical, but at that point it ceases to be Aikido at all. Aikido was never a real Martial Art. From the very beginning, Ueshiba really...

Practicing combinations on your training partners guard; dangerous, stupid or is it common?

This drill is fine. I still do it occasionally when I box. But I found that doing it too often hard a negative affect on my head movement, since it encourages you to shell up.

    Just rewatched Izzy v. Kelvin....

Gastelum often hurts guys early but rarely capitalises. He's actually too patient. Sometimes, you just have to pour it on.

I've seen this taught at a few Catch schools. I've never used it but we've tested it out and it's brutal.

It is what it is- Had my second MMA fight plus 1st Muay Thai fight

I'm impressed by your toughness, considering you are only 15. You did well early with the kicks and keeping at range. But he was landing good shots when you stopped against the fences. I think, had you continued to circle rather than stand ground, you would have done much better. You landed a...
