The subjectivity is the biggest problem because I feel like the fans don't get it. Because to an average person anyone who is willing to fight somebody in a cage is pretty badass. Being able to win a fight is pretty badass. So there are people who would argue that the champ is the biggest badass...
I read it, I was just pointing out that it's a dumb argument. It doesn't matter if your the lineal champ for a title you're not qualified to compete for.
I can't think of a better outcome for both guys that for a large swathe of the fanbase to think that the challenger represents a genuine danger to the champ. Fans generally don't buy PPVs for a squash match. Both guys are riding high, and the winner will gain a lot of clout from the other guys...
There's a difference between "Topuria looked scared" or even someone picking Max, and someone saying "Gaethje is a better win than Volk".
I can see an argument that it was more high profile because it was at 300, or bigger in terms of a physically larger man, but I haven't seen anyone say that...
I generally don't like to get involved in other people's finances.
I think the fighters would do well to organize, manage their careers better, and to push their representatives to negotiate better deals, but if they don't want to do those things that's perfectly fine by me.
I really dislike...
I hate when people use term like "hot head" to describe someone being emotional and prone to tantrums. You can't put a macho spin on behaving like a todler.
This about sums it up. Holyfield was always going to be a problem for Mike Tyson. He could handle the power, he wasn't scared, he had the gas tank and fundamentals to be a nightmare.
You don't. He got his belt. He was allowed to defend it until he lost a fight fair and square. They promoted him. They put him on TV. He had tons of great fights and great opportunities. He will certainly be in the Hall of Fame when he retires.
However, in every sport, and in every business...
He's semi-right about some stuff.
The undercard and prelims are mostly not driving sales.
Early in a fighters career they are trying to build stars, but that's not why they have Niel Magny or Wonderboy under contract.
What he's discounting is that if they were ONLY selling a main event no...
Not great when you're contracting with a fight promotion, that makes all their decisions around their ability to promote fights.
This is roughly like saying "Aldo never wanted to take control of his career instead the promoter controlled his career".
And Aldo had a few big fights. One HUGE...
This seems like a case where there's either some information missing, or it was genuinely handled poorly.
It's mostly fine for the school to determine that XYZ words and terms are not acceptable for one reason or another, but that should be a matter of policy before hand and not ex post facto...
That video allowed to to weasle out of fighting Gary without overtly saying no.
What's next is probably trying to get "big" fights against guys from his era. I'm sure he'd like to fight Thompson. He could call out Dustin for a bad blood grudge match if Dustin loses. Maybe he could drum up...
